A plot summary of Magical Starsign that details major events within the game.
Part One
Prologue
The game begins at Will-o'-Wisp Academy, a school on Kovomaka, a distant planet on the outskirts of the Baklava solar system. Miss Madeleine arrives late to class, to the annoyance of her students. Later that day, a group consisting of the protagonist, Lassi, Mokka, Chai, Pico, and Sorbet gather around Principal Biscotti’s office. They eavesdrop on their teacher, who is being told that an old student of hers named Kale has been causing trouble on Puffoon, the wind planet, and leading a group called the astro pirates. When the six students intervene, Madeleine summons them to the academy’s meditation room, wherein she gives them a crash course on magical battles. Afterwards, she tells the students that they will not be joining her on Puffoon, but still wants them to be prepared for real combat.
Three months later, Madeleine has made no contact with Kovomaka, which makes her students worried. Biscotti too expresses remorse, saying he should have gone instead. The students then realize that Lassi is missing, figuring she went to find a rocket in order to look for their teacher. Discovering a rocket bay beyond the door to the heavens, Lassi blasts off aboard one of six rockets, to which the protagonist and the others activate the remaining rockets and give chase. Before Principal Biscotti can reach them, the six students shoot into outer space and are scattered throughout the Baklava system.
Erd
After barreling through an asteroid belt, the protagonist and Lassi crash land on the earth planet Erd. Both students recover by drinking emergency kovo water, then clear away a sandstorm with Lassi's wild magic. Venturing north and taking down the vicious ant lion, they enter the Kahve Ruins where a fleet of robots try to subdue them. The duo quickly arrive at the ruins’ third floor where a rocket is stationed, but before they can board it, Robot D12S arrives and knocks them unconscious.
Waking up in Gumbo Gaol, the protagonist rescues Lassi and they defeat the patrolling securitron. They travel south and take an underground path to Peatmoss, the village of spiny moles. The village’s king, Gorgonzola de Formaggio, asks the students to vanquish the ant queen, who has been terrorizing the locals and depriving them of gummy worms. Their arrival in Peatmoss was supposedly foretold in prophecy, and that confronting the ant queen is their destiny. Upon defeating the ant queen and retrieving a pair of diggy claws, the duo returns to Gorgonzola, who digs a tunnel to the surface and suggests they procure the rocket in Kahve Ruins. Casting her magic at the Land Where the Stars Sleep, Lassi is able to generate power for the ruins. She and the protagonist infiltrate the stronghold once more, this time escaping the robots and hijacking the rocket, who introduces itself as Neumann.
Cassia
Rather than landing on Puffoon as anticipated, Neumann descends on Cassia, the water planet; however, the land and sea are abnormally cold. In a remote location, a pirate otter warns his boss Chard about the rocket, who dismisses it as a mere tourist vessel.
Arriving on the mainland, the pair find a decapitated Mokka lying on the ground outside Port Pescato, the otters’ town. They find his severed head with Mick, who is using the battery inside to power a heat generator. Offering to help Mick fetch the key to his toolbox, a hermit lab walks in and sneakily steals something, revealing itself to be the culprit. Chasing it north, the students learn from an otter named Caldarroste that the hermit lab works for a monster in Lover's Cove. The monster turns out to be a tree shrouded in icy fog, and after a battle, the hermit lab gives up Mick’s key. Returning to Pescato, Mick is able to retrieve a spare battery from his toolbox, permitting the students to bring Mokka’s head back to his body. A revived Mokka remarks that his classmates’ rocket lacks a proper navicontrol system, so they set out to find one. Outside Pescato, Caldarroste tells them that the astro pirates are behind Cassia’s icy climate, and advises they go to Dragon God Cave to stop them.
The students eventually arrive at the pirates’ base where an ice generator is kept. Chard appears and fights the students, but loses, and reveals that Caldarroste duped them into finding the base. He also alludes to having battled Madeleine earlier, fleeing the cave before the party can question him. The ice machine activates, so Mokka steps in to try and shut it down. Failing to input the right code, he rams into the machine, causing a mystic mouse to fall from a vent above. Suddenly, the machine malfunctions, sending the group out to sea as Cassia thaws out. They are found and brought to Pescato by Detective Beignet, who explains that magicians have been getting abducted by the pirates as of late. He encourages the party to consult the Space Police on Puffoon, as they may know Madeleine's whereabout. Receiving help from a team of dwarfs, Neumann is upgraded with the mystic mouse, allowing it to reach either Puffoon or Gren, the neighboring wood planet where the pirates’ base is said to be located.
Elsewhere, Kale is seen atop a stage surrounded by a pool of lava, and before him lies an unconscious Madeleine. A pirate otter alerts Kale of Chard's defeat against the students, to which he says they be kept at bay for now.
Puffoon
Finally landing on Puffoon, the party docks Neumann in a Spaceport outside the city of Bena Rikashi, and are surprised to see a Will-o'-Wisp rocket stationed there too. They proceed to the Space Police HQ in hopes of filing Madeleine as a missing person, but none of the available officers seem to care about their cause. Even after fetching toilet paper for the stand-in police chief Mugwort, the students are turned away.
Exiting the HQ, a felin named Parfait invites the party to "her house" on the east end of the city. They help Parfait search for a special book titled the Book of the Darned, but upon finding it, she warns them not to read its cursed contents. She alleges that only Madeleine and Kale have read the book and survived, to which Lassi questions Parfait's familiarity with Madeleine. Parfait, however, flees the house, and a passerby SP officer explains they were actually in Kale's laboratory. The officer then leaves to pursue a runaway Chai into Quinoa Plain. When the party follows, they are met by Brioche, who invites them to join Chai in the rabbits' town of Honey Mint.
Mokka destroying a SP tank with his wild maigc, allowing the party to reach Honey Mint and reunite with Chai, who presents them with secret documents he stole from the HQ. Listed on it are several magicians, among them being Miss Madeleine, arrested by chief fighting instructor Biek Fowler. Brioche suggests they speak to the village's clairvoyant, Twigadamus, but SP inspector Brie Pourri suddenly flies in with Mugwort, abducting Chai while ordering Mugwort to fight the students. When Mugwort accuses the party of assaulting an officer, Brioche's father Cresson attempts to diffuse the situation, offering his son's piggy bank of two million bira as compensation. Mugwort accepts the bribe, though Brioche is left heartbroken. Just then, Twigadamus returns to the village, assuring Brioche that his dream of opening a restaurant in the city is destined to happen. Twigadamus invites the students to view his magic crystal, adding his acquaintanceship with Madeleine, and also gives them a magical sky book.
Following the hints provided by Twigadamus's crystal, the students travel throughout Puffoon to obtain a tempus forget, which they use in the Space Police HQ to stupefy the officers. They manage to save Chai on the top floor, who alleges the Space Police and astro pirates are secretly working together to traffic magicians from Gren to Razen, the fire planet. Believing Madeleine may have been taken amidst this scheme, the students fly Neumann over to Gren.
Gren
Before they can contact the wood planet's surface, a flurry of arrows are launched at Neumann, forcing it to make an emergency landing in Carbonara Jungle. The students disembark, to which they hear a cry coming from Semolina the felin, who begs her companion Farina to save her from the jaws of a mojo. By rescuing Semolina, she tell the students that the pirates had sent it after her and Farina. As they prepare to leave the forest, Farina conjures her fire magic to make the mojo explode. Semolina scolds Farina for openly using magic, as her father Durum fears that she would be caught by the pirates.
Heading north to Tropica Village, the party is shocked to find Pico tied to a wooden post, as he was captured by the locals. He tells them that after Lassi took off from Will-o'-Wisp, he and Sorbet commandeered rockets bound for Gren, but Sorbet went missing when they landed. The group enters Master Durum's house, and learn from Semolina that Pico will be offered to the astro pirates for being a magic-user. Farina gets excited from this news, leaving the house with Semolina. When the party talks to Durum, he welcomes them to spend the night in Nuts Lodge. While they are asleep, a trio of felins sneak into the lodge, but leave after one alerts them of a problem outside.
Waking up the next morning, Pico appears to have escaped from captivity overnight. Some villagers admit to seeing who freed Pico, then reprimand Durum for carelessly giving any magicians he finds to the astro pirates. Not only that, but his daughter Farina turns out to be Pico's savior, and is a magic-user herself. When a revived mojo is sent by Chard to destroy Tropica, Farina blows it up like she had done before, consequently proving the villagers' accusations. As punishment for lying to his people, Durum, Farina, and Semolina are banished to Carbonara Jungle.
Proceeding through the jungle, the party finds Pico lying on the ground. He confirms Semolina and Farina released him the other night, then hastily leaves to find Sorbet and other abducted magicians. The students end up at Salamander Cave, where the three felins have taken refuge. Semolina explains that Durum is planning on making her and Farina switch identities. That way, Durum can convince both the pirates and Tropica's villagers that he finally handed over Farina, when in actuality, it would be Semolina in the pirates' captivity. The resident salamanders explain how their home used to be the Holy Tree Yggsalad, but has since become a base for the pirates, and that they are now under Lord Persimmon's supervision.
Further ahead, the party has no luck entering Assam, a pirate-built settlement bordering Yggsalad. They instead slip through its back entrance by diverting the attention of a gorilla, finding Pico and Sorbet clashing with a fleet of otters. The duo are chased to a dock at the edge of town, where Lord Persimmon prepares to depart for Razen with "Farina" in tow. Just then, he summons a peacock fish to deal with the students, eliciting Pico to fight alongside his classmates. As Persimmon is about to leave, "Farina" declares that she has accepted her fate, so Sorbet hops onto the pirates' ship once it takes off.
The students, devastated by Sorbet and "Farina"'s sacrifice, return to Nuts Lodge in Tropica. At midnight, the party introduces Pico to Neumann after he exclaims his desire to follow Sorbet to Razen, as Madeleine may be there as well. They plan their next course of action at dawn, and Lassi proposes they first find a way to prevent Neumann from melting in Razen's fiery atmosphere.
Return to Cassia
Deciding to stop by Cassia for answers, the party is halted when Space Policemen forbid them from entering Port Pescato. Luckily, Detective Beignet arrives and lets them enter the village. Visiting Beignet in Mick's house, he seems frustrated by the police's disinterest in the astro pirates, who are supposedly hiding around Nata de Coco Door. Beignet and the party work together to sneak into Nata de Coco, where they find pirate otters slashing at a wall of foliage. Suddenly, Master Chard returns to challenge the party, but is defeated by the time Beignet returns with officers, one of whom mistakenly calls him "Master". As Chard is flown away, Pico uses his magic to incinerate the foliage, and Chai creates passageway beyond the rock door, allowing the party to retrieve a permanent water particle called aquarino. Meanwhile, Chard orders the policemen, revealed to be under his command, to detain and imprison Beignet. Exiting the village, the party invites Bechamel the dwarf and his crew to upgrade Neumann with the aquarino, now making it fully heat resistant. The students rejoice and are eager to return to Will-o'-Wisp together, until Lassi discloses Sorbet's plan to drop out of the academy, to Pico's confusion.
Razen
Touching down on Jalapeño Wastelands, a group of enigmas disband before the party exits Neumann. Further down, they spot Sorbet with a pair of enigmas, who leave the premises once she passes through a magic barrier . Her classmates follow and arrive in the potfolk town of Paella, wherein they catch Sorbet frantically looking around. She then flees Paella with the barrier craftsman Celadon in her grasp. Elder Kettle returns to the village and is distressed by Celadon's abduction, as he possesses the glaze needed for the upcoming Starfall Festival.
The students follow Sorbet down the World Seam and fight off more enigmas, ending up in Shishkebab Cavern. They investigate a barrel next to a sealed door, finding Rogan Josh the yogart guru hidden inside. To assist the students, Rogan Josh uses his powers to slip his body through the door and activate a lever on the other side. The group finds several prison cells within the dungeon, containing several magicians, "Farina", and Beignet. Before advancing, Beignet confirms that the Space Police and astro pirates are in fact conspiring to abduct magicians across Baklava. Reaching a chamber with a large door, the party runs into Sorbet with Celadon. She orders her classmates to leave so she can save Miss Madeleine by herself, then uses Celadon's magic to warp to the other side of the door. Before they can join her, SP superintendent Gil Mudflap enters the chamber and challenges the students to a fight. After losing and retreating, Mudflap accidentally drops the keys to magicians' cells, which Rogan Josh confiscates. As he sets out to free the prisoners, the protagonist uses their magic to open the large door, giving the party access to the Stone Stage.
Talking to the crowd of pirates and enigmas, the group learns that Kale will use the Stone Stage to warp the prisoners to Nova, the fabled planet of light. They then find Sorbet approaching the Stone Stage, where Kale and Chard wait next to an unconscious Miss Madeleine. Sorbet attempts to offer Celadon to the masters, but Kale does not see him as an adequate magician for sacrifice. Chard encourages Sorbet to prove her loyalty by fighting her classmates, until Kale tells him to stop, as the Stone Stage is ready for activation. After Chard kicks Sorbet and Celadon away, the stage is enveloped in a light that warps Madeleine, the masters, and their underlings away. Luckily, Celadon sweeps in to form a barrier around the students. Once the light fades, the students confront Sorbet about her attempted ploy to save Madeleine, which would have been at Celadon and the potfolk's expense. Just then, Rogan Josh arrives with Beignet, who are pleased to see that everyone is safe. Returning to the inn at Paella, Rogan Josh is told about Kale's departure for Nova. He is unfamiliar with Nova's location, and considering the Stone Stage has been drained of its magic, an alternate route must be taken in order to find the light planet. He suggests they consult the dwarves in Pescato, who may know about Nova based on what is written in the Book of the Darned.
Part Two
Fire gummy
The students rest at Paella's inn, prepared to visit Cassia to learn more about Nova. Meanwhile at Bena Rikashi, Space Police chief Abalon Demar is informed of Gil Mudflap's defeat in Shishkebab Cavern. Irritated, Demar calls for the release of police soldier and convicted war criminal Magnus Muzzleflash. Mudflap enters the room and warns Demar of Muzzleflash's psychopathic tendencies, which is what landed him in jail to begin with. Demar is indifferent, saying he will go to Gren later while Muzzleflash is sent to Erd. Back at Paella, Sorbet resolves to save Madeleine and officially joins the party. The students then talk to "Farina" and Beignet, with "Farina" revealing that she is actually Semolina.
Landing on Cassia once more, the group obtains a fake beard from Worcester the dwarf, who says it will let them into the dwarves' town of Macaroon on Razen. He tells them to visit the dwarves' boss Grenadine, as he may know the secret to accessing Nova. Once the students get to Macaroon, the locals doubt they can meet Grenadine unless they retrieve a particular item from Capsicum Caverns. They take the dwarves' advice and venture through the caverns, until a horde of Dab Hasnel and Piskapook enigmas are found blocking a tunnel. Suddenly, a boulder tumbles down and incinerates some of the enigmas, prompting the party to turn back. Evading the boulders, the students slip into a chamber housing a dragon's skeleton with a red crystal in its jaws. The protagonist retrieves the crystal before another boulder crashes into the chamber. As the students hit a dead end, Sorbet gathers water to flood the cave and extinguish a rock coming their way, allowing everyone to leave Capsicum Caverns.
The Starfall Festival begins once the group returns to Paella, wherein Elder Kettle recites a prayer and channels life into the newborn potfolk. As the villagers celebrate, Lassi (if the protagonist is male) or Mokka (if female) attempts to confess their feelings to the protagonist, but is interrupted when Chai pulls them aside. Later on, the party talks to Rogan Josh about the crystal they found in Capsicum Caverns, which turns out to be the fire millennium gummy. He explains that Grenadine may be of more help to them, as he has attained esoteric knowledge of the universe by reading the Book of the Darned. Realizing that Miss Madeleine has also read from the book, the students and Rogan Josh fear she could be fated to die. Later that night, Sorbet admits to Pico that she is likely going to drop out of Will-o'-Wisp Academy, in part due to her depression and her parents' financial situation.
The students go back to Macaroon the next morning and meet Grenadine at Condimen Tower. He explains that there are five millennium gummies in total, one on each planet. He was taught this by Craaken, the "father of magic" who authored the Book of the Darned. Craaken predicted that in the end times, the sun would die and a new universe would be born. Believing Nova to be the key to this apocalypse, he wrote that obtaining all five millennium gummies would allow for the transmutation of attributes - a process called etherealization. By using etherealization, one could assume a form of pure light and enter the sun, the true home of Nova. Grenadine recalls that Craaken opened a magic school on Cassia a long time ago, so he recommends the students go there first.
Water gummy
Jumping back to the water planet, the party finds Caldarroste and Persimmon arguing at Port Pescato. Apparently, the Space Police are occupying the eastern Granule Island in search of the pirates' treasure. Everyone boards a boat to Granule Island, and the students bump into Parfait near the shore. She directs them to the campus of Ambergris Preparatory School, founded by Craaken long ago. Arriving at the school, Headmaster Sturgeon welcomes the students and presumes they are pupils of Madeleine, then urges them to retrieve the water millennium gummy from Holy Water Pyramid. Sorbet believes the Space Police are attempting to get the gummy first, which will stop the party from reaching Nova.
In the library, Parfait tells the students about Madeleine's 800-year-long tenure at Ambergris Prep, wherein she heavily studied and annotated the Book of the Darned. She guides them north of the village, spotting a Space Police UFO hovering over Holy Water Pyramid and projecting a column of light. As the group ventures through the pyramid, they enter a chamber with a cauldron inside. Pico uses his magic to ignite the cauldron, sending a pillar of fire up to the UFO. The party arrives outside the central chamber soon after, finding Parfait knocked out amongst several deceased water people and says it was Abalon Demar's doing. As Demar and Mudflap marvel at the water gummy, the students barge in to challenge them, but Mudflap's stench compels Demar to fight solo. Demar loses, after which Mudflap the Space Troopers exit the chamber and declare the water gummy missing, then warp out of the pyramid.
When the party goes back to get the water gummy, Caldarroste reveals that he snagged it during the battle against Demar. He attempts to run off with it, only to squabble over it with Persimmon on the road to Ambergris Prep. Just as Persimmon is about to escape, Parfait subdues him and takes the gummy, allowing everyone to safely return to the village. After Sturgeon entrusts the students with the gummy, he tells them how powerful Miss Madeleine truly is, being able to tame enigmas and warp anywhere in the world. She also annotated the last copy of the Book of the Darned, which is the one Parfait took back on Puffoon. While everyone rests up in the school's dorms, Sorbet sneaks into the library and begins flipping through the book.
Wood gummy
The next morning, Beignet alerts everyone that something happened on Gren after he brought Semolina back home. They take Neumann to the wood planet and enter Durum's hut, finding Apitos in front of Farina's potted plant, smashed to pieces by Durum moments prior. Outside the hut, some felins' conversation leads the party to Carbonara Jungle, catching Demar as he observes the planet engulfed in flames. He tells them that Gren used to have its own millennium gummy, but it has since been absorbed the Holy Tree Yggsalad. He and the party split ways, then a felin who looks like Semolina appears further in the jungle. However, Pico and Lassi believe it is actually Farina, who still looks like Semolina after they switched identities. Farina uses her powers to create a wall of fire, so the party takes an alternate route to Assam. Reaching a secluded area with a fountain, the classmates use their powers to make it flow once more, and scatter its water to quell the wildfire.
Infiltrating Assam yet again, the students enter Yggsalad, where they discover several felins and otters buried to their necks. Just then, the real Semolina appears and wonders if this was Farina's doing. They all go further in and see a half-buried Durum, who alleges that Farina shattered her pot and abandoned the village. Defeating the awakened holy sapling, revealed to be Farina's plant, Farina herself shows up and tackles the protagonist. Semolina reprimands Farina, who feigns ignorance of the situation before breaking down in tears. After the felin girls take a moment to cry, the tree's salamanders warn everyone of a budding plant that sprouted in the holy sapling's place, saying it will digest people to rebirth them as a millennium gummy. The party explains their cause for finding the gummies, then Semolina abruptly steps inside the bud, giving life to the newly formed wood gummy. A frightened Durum gives the gummy to the protagonist, contritely saying that it is Semolina's soul.
Later on at the Nuts Lodge, Durum expresses remorse for how unfairly he treated Semolina just to protect his daughter. As Pico professes his desire to save the remaining magicians in Kale's clutches, Durum gives the party Semolina's hairpin, wanting her to be there in spirit when Kale's plans are foiled. Once he leaves, Sorbet admits to feeling a sort of jealously over Semolina's sacrifice. Both she and Semolina had few reasons to keep living, and had Semolina not died to become the wood gummy, Sorbet would have instead. She storms out of the lodge and the party follows, to which she apologizes for her outburst. Nevertheless, Pico assures her that the classmates will always have each other. Resuming their quest, the party helps a spiny mole who was captured by the pirates, using Neumann to return him to Erd.
Earth gummy
Taking a path east of Peatmoss, the party ends up in Rio Villa, a town populated by robots from Kahve Ruins. The locals redirect them to a house containing the Emerald Core, a supercomputer with data left behind by the ancient Espresso civilization. The group learns about the unique mechanics of Erd's robots, whereby their battery cores are powered by gummies they create, and how they instinctively assemble more robots with spare materials. When Mokka's battery suddenly loses its power, a robot tells the classmates to recharge him at Kahve Ruins.
At the abandoned plant, they take an elevator to the lowest level, ending up in a room splattered with human-shaped gummies. Rogan Josh appears, confirming the gummies are indeed the remnants of Espresso people. Thousands of years ago, the Espressos visited Erd's yogart gurus to find a gate to Nova, but opted to twist space themselves by constructing gummy-powered robots who could use PSI energy. However, the robots supposedly turned against the Espressos, turning them into gummies for battery fuel. Rogan Josh further explains the robots' eventual takeover of the Baklava system, to Mokka's disquiet. After recharging Mokka's battery in the gummy room, the students take an elevator to the highest floor where a machine opens, revealing a gummified Espresso called the gummy girl. She is thankful once they put her to rest, leaving behind an access card with the name Applepie on it. Bringing the card to the Emerald Core, the party listens to a series of audio logs from Applepie, gummy girl's identity before her transformation. They learn that when the Espressos first colonized Erd, their leader Dr. Calzone made several attempts to bend space and enter the sun, and invited Applepie to test her latent psychic abilities for their research. Their experiments ended when the resident brownies and other denizens of Erd rebelled, as did the robots, resulting in the Espressos' annihilation.
Progressing eastward through the Ships' Graveyard, the students fend off against patrolling Space Policemen led by Magnus Muzzleflash. Refusing to show mercy against the students, the troopers' chase ends at Plateau of the Giant, but Muzzleflash leaves to reload his bomb cannons. Mokka suddenly declares a protocol once the troopers leave, preparing to attack a stone giant in the distance. Pico pushes Mokka over and snaps him out of his trance, to which he miraculously opens the door to a hangar on the plateau. Inside the hangar is a drill-shaped contraption, so Lassi uses her magic to carry it over the desert. The party crash lands on Uponisbak, the pyrite village upon the back of the stone giant Tektos. Passing through the Path of Five Organs into Tektos's skull, the group is met by Shallot the elder brownie, and Tektos reveals he is the last of nine giants who roamed Erd long ago. Shallot is informed of the millennium gummy quest and the students' plans to find Nova. He warns them that in order to enter the sun where Nova resides, physical bodies must temporarily become ethereal as to not be incinerated by the sun - a fact he learned from Craaken's book. Reluctant to divulge more of Craaken's teachings, Shallot forbids the group from casting magic inside the giant's skull, as Muzzleflash is roaming outside. Tektos suggests otherwise, believing the group can stop him.
Muzzleflash is lured to the students and quickly defeated in battle. Some of Muzzleflash's companions alert him of gummy energy coming from Kahve Ruins, suggesting the earth gummy may be inside. No longer finding Tektos useful to him, Muzzleflash prepares to ram through the his body, but the stone giant charges up power in his head. He fires a laser from his mouth that instantly vaporizes Muzzleflash through his impenetrable armor, just barely missing the ruins. Although this burst of energy was enough to kill the gunman, it cost Tektos his own life too, so he orders Shallot to give the party his soul, the earth gummy, as his body crumbles into the desert. Boarding Neumann after parting ways with Shallot, Sorbet inspects the rocket's computer to find an email sent by Brie Pourri, urging them to come to Puffoon.
Wind gummy
The students obey Brie's request and meet her outside Bena Rikashi, to which she redirects them to King Suspiro's palace. Talking with Suspiro, they learn he befriended Kale a decade ago, and that Kale was able to gain peoples' support with his vast political knowledge, earning him a place in Suspiro's castle. However, citizens became hostile towards Kale, worried he was a threat to their customs, and nearly had him expelled from the city. After reading the Book of the Darned, Kale planned to eliminate mankind by destroying the Baklava system, a feat possible by taking advantage of Craaken's apocalyptic prophesy. He then joined forces with the SP fighting instructor Biek Fowler to usurp Suspiro's control. When the students inquire about Puffoon's millennium gummy, Suspiro says they may get answers in Honey Mint.
Arriving at Honey Mint, Twigadamus states the wind gummy occupies a distant shrine. The group looks at his crystal to see a sprouting bud in the ground, later finding it at the edge of Quinoa Plain. Unleashing his magic, Chai turns the bud into a viney ladder, allowing the students to climb up to the Couscous Ruins, a network of pathways that disobey the natural flow of time. As the students venture deeper into the ruins, they observe what seems to be Madeleine, but they are mere illusions created by the ruins. Resuming their quest and passing by a lone man named Knucklestorm, they encounter Brie outside the dungeon. She reveals Knucklestorm to be her father, then challenges the students to a fight, fearing their knowledge of the ruins will damage the Space Police's reputation. Just as Brie is defeated, Knucklestorm flies in and reprimands her brainwashed actions. In response, Brie explains that she came to invite Knucklestorm back into the Space Police, as he was the force's general until he lost faith in Suspiro. Knucklestorm, however, remains unconvinced and takes off. Further in the ruins, the party sees even more mirages of Madeleine, this time confronting Kale about the abducted magicians, whom he plans on sacrificing to a worm in the sun. Another mirage depicts Madeleine in front of Biek Fowler and a unit of officers, but before the mirage fades, the two engage in battle.
Knucklestorm approaches the party once they reach the ruins' depths, warning them of an evil presence nearby. Out of nowhere, Kale's odd beetle emerges and nearly attacks Knucklestorm, but Brie flies in and takes the blow. Her glider is struck by the beetle's claw, while Knucklestorm stabs it in the head and orders his daughter to trigger the glider's emergency release. As it is triggered, Brie is cut down the back as her glider shatters, and the odd beetle assaults the party. After taking it down, Mokka fails to detect Brie's heartbeat. Knucklestorm laments his daughter's death, thinking back to when she first joined the Space Police, and his subsequent departure from Bena Rikashi. Suddenly, the odd beetle glows and vanishes to reveal the wind gummy, which emits energy that miraculously resurrects Brie. Knucklestorm embraces his daughter while the party claims the gummy, and the two vow to bring justice back to the force. With all five millennium gummies in their possession, the group boards Neumann, where they find an email that asks them to return to Condimen Tower.
Return to Razen
Docking in the tower's rocket bay, Grenadine congratulates the students for gathering the five gummies. They then hear explosions coming from outside, as Space Police and pirate otters have unexpectedly invaded Razen. As the students work their way down Condimen Tower, some dwarves warn them of the enemies' superweapon, fearing it may be able to destroy Neumann before it can leave for Nova. Returning to Paella after fleeing Macaroon, Beignet secretly alerts the party of the aforementioned weapon, the cybersaurus. Parfait is in Paella too and proves she can fight without the need for magic. Upon taking down the invading officers and their cybersaurus, the group presumes Grenadine is done upgrading Neumann, but Biek Fowler swoops in before they can leave town. Beignet finally abandons his faith in the police and defends the students, so Fowler charges up his glider. Just as he is about to strike, Beignet sacrifices himself and takes the blow, then Brie Pourri shows up to fly the party away. Fowler coldly chuckles, realizing Brie too has betrayed the force.
Safely dropping the students off at Condimen Tower, Brie tells them to hurry before Biek Fowler catches up. Everyone enters the tower except Sorbet, still feeling as though her role in this journey is for naught, but Pico manages to bring her inside. The group meets Grenadine and Rogan Josh in the tower, then boards Neumann while Caldarroste and Persimmon secretly devise a plan. As the rocket lifts off, Caldarroste grabs ahold. Meanwhile, the students talk amongst themselves before the final stretch of their adventure. Pico tries consoling Sorbet, who pushes him away and retreats to the rocket's cabin. Sorbet is convinced everyone will forget about her after she drops out of Will-o'-Wisp, to which he reassures her that the six of them will always be friends.
Nova
Neumann successfully slips through dimensions and enters the sun, bringing the party to Nova with Caldarroste secretly in tow. Passing through the Sugarleaf Plains, an explosion echoes in the distance, and the group arrives at the sun's navel, Phunnel Pit. According to Grenadine and his dwarves, who also made it to Nova, Kale and the pirate otters blew up the cave's teleporter to a seventh planet of darkness, Shadra, leaving a crater in its place. Grenadine explains that the sun actually houses two planets, Nova of light and Shadra of darkness, which share the same space but in parallel dimensions, and swap places relative to the universe's balance of attributes. With few options left, Grenadine aims to consult the Baklava system's creator, the queen of light.
Heading north and seeing several ships fly overhead, the party finds dwarves and King Gorgonzola gathered outside Sparklin Palace. The guarding luminites forbid any entry into the palace, as per the queen of light's orders, so Gorgonzola digs an underground tunnel for the students. Entering the queen's throne room, the only person present is a luminite called Filamen. According to Filamen, the queen died many years ago and is undergoing another cycle of reincarnation. She prohibited anyone from using the Starway, a secondary gate connecting Nova and Shadra, but her blessing grants the party access to every room in the palace. As they leave the throne room, they are met by Durum, Farina, and Apitos, who wish to offer support before the final battle.
The palace's basement level contains seven seals, each representative of the students' starsigns. By breaking the seals with their magic, they receive visions of Kale in the past, wherein he imparted Craaken's teachings of the sun to Madeleine, Biscotti, Sorbet, and Parfait. Kale proclaimed the world had gone off its proper course, so by taking advantage of the prevised apocalypse, he could eliminate the incompetent people of Baklava and renew the whole universe. To swap their own element and ignite the last seal, the protagonist enters an arc and turns into a [putty (species)|putty]]. Before they can change back, Caldarroste sneakily clips one of Mokka's wires and runs away. Luckily, Sorbet uses Semolina's hairclip to bridge the wire's circuit, and Lassi thanks Semolina for her help even in death. With all seven seals broken, the five planets of Baklava align themselves with the sun, activating the Starway beneath Sparklin Palace.
Before the party can set foot in the Starway, they are stopped by Biek Fowler. He clams to have reached Nova by stealing an etherealization machine from the dwarves, then a battle ensues. Fowler is ultimately defeated and flies off, allowing the party to meet Grenadine at the Starway's teleportation chamber. Stepping on the interdimensional gate, Grenadine finds a problem with it mid-activation, but the students cannot step off or else their bodies will be torn across space. Suddenly, Fowler storms in and announces his devotion to Kale, while Durum and Farina arrive shortly after. Mokka begins to detect a dimensional bomb within Fowler's glider, to which Durum picks Fowler up and quickly exits the chamber. The party is powerless to do anything, hearing the bomb detonate as they are warped into Shadra's dimension.
Shadra
Finally arriving on the dark planet, Mokka awkwardly steps aside and projects Semolina's soul from her hairclip in his wiring. She tells her friends to keep moving forward, and that everyone else will follow behind. Beyond the enigma-infested Cocoabutter Valley, the students enter Chocomilk Caves, where several of Kale's runaway captives have taken refuge. An escapee sorcerer named Carbon consults the party, saying he and the others were trapped in Chromagar Cave until Miss Madeleine gave them a chance to run away. He summarizes Kale's plan to hasten the universal apocalypse by feeding gummified magicians to Shadra, the mythical worm who shares a name with the planet, then have it undergo metamorphosis before devouring the sun and birthing another. As the students are about to leave, several enigmas invade Chocomilk Caves, followed by a unit of Space Police troopers. Fortunately, the fleet is commanded by Knucklestorm, who buys the party time while he fights the enigmas with Carbon.
Proceeding through Cocoabutter Valley and reconvening with Brie Pourri, they arrive at the entrance to Chromagar Cave, but not before running into Caldarroste and Chard, the latter of whom carries Mokka's stolen component. The students defeat Chard yet again, to which he proclaims that Kale's plans are coming into fruition. As Knucklestorm flies in, Chard blows himself up and knocks Caldarroste aside. Knucklestorm warns his allies of Chromagar Cave's ambient gummy fumes, as well as the arrival of several vicious robots from Erd. To the students' horror, Chromagar Cave is littered with the gummified remains of magicians and Kale's own pirates, all acting as sacrifices for Shadra the giant larva. The eponymous larva is seen feeding on gummies deep within the cave, and Mokka detects Miss Madeleine further in. After fighting past the giant larva, Sorbet is hesitant to keep going, noticing that everyone is slowly getting crystallized by the gummy fumes. Meanwhile, as Brie and a unit of officers manage to team up with the robots, some dwarves voice orders to send ships in need of charging back to a refurbished Kahve Ruins.
At the end of Chromagar Cave, the group sees Madeleine, only to be interrupted by Kale in the flesh. He summons a procession of gummies to form the gummy giant and fights alongside it. Once he and the giant are beaten, Kale redirects the students' attention to Shadra in its chrysalis form nearby. He praises its rapid absorption of gummy energy and impending emersion, passing away in front of his adversaries. The students then hurry over to Madeleine, whose body is entirely cased in gummies. While they try digging her out, Sorbet says their efforts are futile, for it is only a matter of time before they too become gummified and consumed by Shadra. With the robot takeover, the sun's rebirth, and universal reset arriving in tandem, she thinks Kale may not have been at fault. All of a sudden, Mokka and the other robots go enter a trance at the same time. Mokka unleashes two drills and nearly impales the protagonist, subconsciously begging for his life to end, but strangely deactivates.

Madeleine telepathically communicates with her pupils, commanding them to feed Shadra their magic and vanquish it to create a new light. One by one, the students and Madeleine cast their attributes, bringing a matured Shadra out of its chrysalis; luckily, Mokka's heart is still in tact and can use his magic. A perilous battle ensues and the students defeat Shadra in its two monstrous forms, causing it to glow and envelop the sun in a brilliant light. People from all over the Baklava system observe the event, understanding it to be the benevolent light of the students. Back on Kovomaka, Principal Biscotti declares the event to be the sun's true rebirth, then Madeleine's soul appears to bid her mentor farewell. Outside in Cocoabutter Valley, Grenadine tells Brie and Knucklestorm that the robots are now operating on reserve power, using the light of rebirth as an energy source. Dwarves then emerge from Chromagar Cave, announcing the ambient gummy fumes to be gone.
The students wake up in Chromagar Cave, now rid of gummies, and rush over to a de-gummified Miss Madeleine. She congratulates them and apologizes for not seeing their accomplishments, but assures they can take on any hardship by remembering the bonds they formed. As she ascends and fades into light, she vows to meet her pupils again on another planet, in another life. With their tearful good-byes said, Brie and Knucklestorm fly in to take the students outside.
Finale
Beginning the journey home, the protagonist, Lassi, Mokka, Chai, Pico, and Sorbet are escorted by the Space Police back to Nova, finding Durum alive with Farina in the Starway. They meet up with Gorgonzola at Sparklin Palace, and fly Neumann alongside many spaceships to Bena Rikashi, where Suspiro and the Space Police send them off. Waiting for the students in Will-o'-Wisp's rocket bay is Principal Biscotti, welcoming them home as their adventure comes to an end.
Epilogue
Pico, who repeatedly fails all his classes, drops out of Will-o'-Wisp in the spring of his eighth year to explore the galaxy. Sorbet remains at the academy as a scholarship student, and after graduating, enlists in the Space Police to bring about a complete organizational reform alongside Brie Pourri and General Knucklestorm. Lassi spends ten years studying the mechanics of rockets, persisting even in the face of public ridicule, until Mokka volunteers to be rebuilt into a rocket. The incomplete Rocket Mokka is lent to the protagonist, who helped the dwarves build a radio telescope out of the Kahve Ruins on Erd. The radio telescope had picked up a faint signal in outer space, and on the day the protagonist prepares to blast off aboard Rocket Mokka, Chai stows away between the fuel tank and main engine.[a]
