Sorbet is a party member in Magical Starsign. 13 years old, she is an honors student enrolled in Will-o'-Wisp Academy who uses the water starsign. After she and her classmates are scattered across the Baklava solar system, Sorbet attempts to rescue Miss Madeleine by joining Kale's astro pirates under false pretenses. She is prepared to sacrifice herself for the good of other people, believing she has no reason to enjoy being alive. While journeying with her friends, Sorbet learns how to take pride in her efforts and be honest about her emotions.

In Uchū no Kishi, which takes place in a continuity separate from Magical Starsign, Sorbet (or Sugar Ronsard, as she is originally known), joins Mash Blanc and a group of senior students to join Vanilla Nighthawk in her investigation of the "Sheep".

Profile

Sorbet is a bright and analytical girl, but tends to keep her true feelings hidden, often leading her to make careless decisions. As cheery as she may seem, Sorbet is rarely ever satisfied with her achievements and pushes to be a better version of herself. She is also described as honest and earnest, and that she cannot be shaken from her beliefs. Due to her family’s financial situation, Sorbet is shown to take dropping out of Will-o'-Wisp Academy hard. She shows signs of depression throughout the story, as seen in her lack of self preservation and outbursts in certain situations.

Sorbet has violet eyes and curly light brown hair that goes down to her shoulders. She wears a red, blue, and white headband with a geometric pattern on her head, and a coordinated short blue dress, blue gloves, and blue boots with a lighter colored stripe down the middle. The shoulders, ends of the dress, and the tops of the boots are adorned with cream-colored ruffles.

Biography

Early life

Sorbet was born into a family who struggled financially, so when she enrolled in Will-o'-Wisp Academy, she began working excessively hard to be the very best in her class. Constantly wanting to improve, Sorbet forced herself to go to school, resulting in anxiety over her shortcomings and likeliness of dropping out, as her parents would soon be unable to afford her tuition. She was enrolled in Miss Madeleine's Low Class B, where she became close friends with the protagonist, Lassi, Mokka, Chai, and Pico, but undermined her own importance in the group due to her inferiority complex.

The students gathered around Biscotti's office

After overhearing Biscotti order Miss Madeleine to fly to Puffoon, where she would confront the rogue magician Kale, Sorbet and her classmates expressed concern for their teacher. The six students were then summoned to the academy's meditation room, where Madeleine taught them the basics of magical combat. However, Sorbet pointed out that Madeleine did not seem like her usual self. Once the lesson concluded, Sorbet was under the impression that the group would be joining their teacher in outer space, though Madeleine assured them that no such thing would be happening.

Three months later, the students grew worried about Madeleine, who had made no contact with the academy since her departure. When Pico and Chai took notice of Lassi's sudden absence, Sorbet recalled rumors of a rocket hidden somewhere in the academy, concluding that Lassi planned on using a rocket to reach Puffoon. Sorbet accompanied Mokka and the protagonist to a rocket bay in the academy's clocktower, where Lassi, aboard one of many rockets, launched into space. The five other students immediately boarded the remaining rockets, resulting in them getting scattered across the Baklava solar system.

Conflict at Assam

When the protagonist, Lassi, and Mokka (and Chai, if Puffoon was visited beforehand) reunited with Pico on Gren, he warned the them that Sorbet may have been taken by the astro pirates, seeing as they were persecuting magicians. The group hurried to Assam where confrontation broke out between Pico, Sorbet, and the pirate otters lead by Lord Persimmon. A gang of otters dogpiled on top of Sorbet, who blasted them away with her water magic. Impressed by Sorbet's talents, Persimmon boarded a ship bound for Razen with Semolina, disguised as Farina, in tow. Sorbet leapt on board just in time, to the dismay of Pico and the others.

Once the party obtained the aquarino from Cassia, they hastily flew to Razen where Sorbet was seen conversing with enigmas. She then passed through a barrier into the potfolk's town of Paella, while her classmates followed. They paid a visit with Paella's barrier craftsman Celadon, but after leaving his house, Sorbet snuck by and ran off with Celadon, stating she would rescue Madeleine on her own. Baffled, the party chased Sorbet down the World Seam, soon arriving at Shishkebab Cavern. Carrying Celadon, Sorbet proceeded to the Stone Stage where Master Kale and Master Chard stood before an unconscious Madeleine. She attempted to offer Celadon to the masters, citing his magical abilities, but Kale did not see potfolk as adequate sacrifices. When the students arrived, Sorbet refused Chard's command to fight them, to which he kicked her off the Stone Stage. Kale then activated the stage to warp himself, Madeleine, and the astro pirates to Nova, the planet inside the sun. Luckily, Celadon cast a small dome around the students to keep them safe. Sorbet explained how her plan was to deceive Kale by utilizing Celadon's barrier magic, which would have given her a chance to save Madeleine. Her classmates, however, pointed out the immorality of using Celadon for her own gain. Drawing attention to Pico's injuries from the Assam conflict, Lassi exclaimed that Sorbet's insistence on handling things on her own was doing more harm than good. Just then, Beignet and Rogan Josh arrived to bring everyone back to Paella, where Rogan Josh advised the students seek help from the dwarves on Cassia.

With Sorbet on the team, the students obtained a fake beard to access Macaroon on Razen, but had to take a detour to Capsicum Caverns to retrieve the fire millennium gummy and earn Grenadine's favor. They were nearly incinerated by a flaming rock, until Sorbet used her magic to flood the cavern with water. Gummy in hand, they returned to Paella in time for the Starfall Festival, where Rogan Josh encouraged them to consult Grenadine next. Pico found Sorbet on the town's outskirts that night, asking if she really planned on dropping out of school after hearing so from Lassi. Sorbet proceeded to explain her family's financial situation, and how she refused to talk about her withdrawal from Will-o'-Wisp so as to not worry her friends. Nevertheless, Sorbet chose to stay with the team in hopes of finding a solution.

After Magical Starsign

Sorbet as a Space Police officer

Sorbet remained at Will-o'-Wisp as a scholarship student, and after graduating, she traveled back to Puffoon to enlist in the Space Police. She quickly rose through the ranks as she supported Knucklestorm and Brie Pourri in their work, and began working on a complete reform of the organization.

Trivia

• It is possible that Sorbet's character was inspired by Candy Mintblue from the preceding game, Magical Vacation. They have similar designs and personalities, team up with major antagonists, and are the last characters to join the main party. Moreover, Candy's design was reupurposed from an unused character that Shinichi Kameoka had created for Legend of Mana, which Sorbet closely resembles as well.
