Parfait is a character in Magical Starsign. She is a felin enrolled as a student at Ambergris Preparatory School on Cassia. Although her ability to use magic is weak, she is a very talented martial artist and thief.

Profile

Parfait is brutally efficient, often preferring action over explanations and running ahead of her allies. She is able to hold her own in battle without magic, however, so her confidence is not entirely misplaced.

Parfait has white fur, a blonde bowl cut, and violet eyes. For clothing, she wears a red headscarf with an orange gem centered on her forehead. She wears a green gi overtop a gray undershirt, a red belt, baggy green pants, and sandals.

Biography

Early life

Some time before Magical Starsign, Parfait became acquainted with Kale, a magician from Kovomaka who was also enrolled in Ambergris Prep at the time. At his laboratory in Bena Rikashi, Kale told Parfait about an insect that lived inside the sun, which was prophesized to devour it and rebirth the entire universe. On a separate occasion, he warned her about the Book of the Darned and grieved over the futility of life.

After failing to report Miss Madeleine's disappearance at the Space Police HQ, the students bumped into Parfait in Bena Rikashi. She was quick to recognize them as Will-o'-Wisp Academy students, then urged they follow her to the city's outskirts. Unaware that they were being brought to Kale's laboratory, Parfait lied and said they were at her house, and she needed help finding the Book of the Darned. The group was able to find the book, but Parfait stopped them from reading it. According to rumors, the book put a death curse on anyone who read it, and that the only known survivors were Madeleine and Kale. Lassi wondered how Parfait knew of Madeleine, but she fled the lab when Space Police sirens started blaring outside. An officer halted the students, revealing they were in Kale's laboratory and not Parfait's house.

During their quest to find the five millennium gummies, the students met Parfait on the coast of Granule Island on Cassia. She invited them to visit Headmaster Sturgeon at Ambergris Prep, wherein he asked that they retrieve the water millennium gummy from Holy Water Pyramid. In the library, Parfait told them that Madeleine spent over 800 years studying the Book of the Darned at Ambergris, then exclaimed that she repossess the book after the fiasco on Puffoon. She proceeded to guide them to the Holy Water Pyramid watchpoint, finding it enveloped in a wall of energy from a Space Police UFO. Although the Space Police claimed they were protecting the water gummy, Parfait and the students know that to be untrue.

Although Parfait managed to sneak into the pyramid, she was eventually caught by Abalon Demar, Gil Mudflap, and their unit of policemen. The students found her amidst droves of dead water people, to which she weakly begged for them to get the water gummy. The whole Space Police unit fled Holy Water Pyramid once Demar was defeated in battle, but as the students went to claim the gummy, Caldarroste ran off with it. During his escape, however, it was snatched by Persimmon. Luckily, Parfait ambushed Persimmon and tied him up, allowing the students to take the gummy.

During the Space Police and pirate otters' assault on Razen, Sturgeon sent Parfait to help. She warned the students about the cybersaurus that the Space Police had deployed, and also proved she could hold her own against the policemen.

Trivia

• Parfait may be loosely based on Lemon Airsupply, a felin character in Magical Vacation who uses martial arts. Also, like Lemon, she has a more tomboyish personality in the Japanese version, often referring to herself with the masculine personal pronoun オレ ore.

Nomenclature

Her name comes from parfait, a French layered desert made with cream, granola, nuts, and fruit.
