Gamelan is a character in Magical Starsign. She is a felin and local fortune-teller from Tropica Village on Gren.
Profile
Personality
Gamelan has a rather eccentric personality, offering strange and outlandish wisdom to those who visit her hut. Her truthful readings help people progress their journeys, though most of the time, they seem to reflect her appetite.
Appearance
Gamelan is a white-furred felin with silver hair, pink highlights, yellow eyes, and pierced ears. She dons an Egyptian-style bedlah, consisting of a bejeweled belt, and a checkered cloth with a yin and yang symbol. Additionally, she wears violet platform shoes with netting along the legs.
Biography
Magical Starsign
When the party met Gamelan for the first time at Tropica Village, she declared that the six students would reunite on a planet of fire. This prediction ultimately came true, as they encountered Sorbet on Razen. She also predicted the students' acquaintance with the dwarves of Macaroon, Semolina's sacrifice to become the wood gummy, and their near death by gummy fume crystallization in Chromagar Cave.
After the students arrived on Nova, Gamelan encouraged Durum and Farina to join the them, sensing their final battle against Shadra would be soon.
Egg character prophesy
If the player has linked up with at least one other player in Tag Mode, and the party has access to Nova, there is a small chance for Gamelan to receive a vision of an egg character. The egg character can be either Fondue, Tom Yam, Nogg, Kir, or Gelato. Once these requirements have been met, the egg appears in Neumann's incubation room, and is hatched after around five subsequent tags.[1]
Nomenclature
Her name comes from gamelan, an Indonesian musical ensemble comprised mostly of percussion instruments, with one woodwind and string instrument.
