Water people are a species in the Magical Vacation series. They hail from the Water Realm, but are also found in Akvavit Castle in the Dark Realm and Holy Water Pyramid on Cassia.
Profile
Water people, as their name implies, are humanoid creatures made of water. They have round heads, big hands, and faded eyes. From the waist-down, water peoples' bodies expand into puddles, and they move around by wobbling back and forth. The language they speak is called Aquarim, which in Japanese, is scrambled Hiragana and Katakana. Only those fluent in Aquarim such as Blueberry can translate it into the common language.
History
Prior to Magical Vacation, the water people were driven out of the Water Realm after enigmas invaded, causing them to be flung across the universe and ending up in different realms. Those who were sent to the Dark Realm created Akvavit Castle on the edge of Muy Mot Desert by draining Spollacs Swamp, causing darkness to fester across the realm. Later on in the game, some water people could be found in the Abyssal Realm, namely May Village and the Abyssal Corridor awaiting rebirth.
Over 800 years later in Magical Starsign, the remaining water people occupied the Holy Water Pyramid, devoting their lives to protecting the water millennium gummy. Unfortunately, all of them were killed during the Space Police's assault on the pyramid, making them an extinct race.[1]
Trivia
- "Water people" is both the singular and plural term for the species.
- According to a water people in Akvavit Castle, they were all one colossal entity prior to being split up by the enigmas.
- It is likely that water people were planned to be alive and interactable in Magical Starsign, as reused overworld sprites from Magical Vacation can be found in the game's files. Unique to Magical Starsign are a dialogue portrait, and a sprite for when Cassia is frozen over.
- The Aquarim Language can be deciphered by arranging the scrambled characters and rewriting them in their proper scripts. However, the unscrambled messages are nothing like Blueberry's translations, and seem to be nonsensical phrases.
