Kovopedia is an open English encyclopedic wiki about the Magical Vacation series by Brownie Brown. Originally started in 2010 as the Magical Wiki on Wikia (now known as Fandom), the site would eventually become the Magical Vacation Wiki in 2020, after having been largely inactive since 2014.
In 2022, administrator Rman41 forked the wiki off of Fandom, believing that it was in the best interest of the community to be independent, much like the many other independent Nintendo wikis. He created the name Kovopedia at this time, as well as new site graphics to differentiate it from the Fandom counterpart. In 2023, the wiki joined the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance (NIWA), a group of independent wikis about Nintendo franchises.

Magical Wiki was founded on July 21, 2010 by user Vlax-dono, who is now known as TendraelUmbra.[1] She was the site's active administrator until 2014, while maintaining a small number of edits thereafter.[3]
On August 15, 2011, Vlax-dono promoted user Gyyrro,[4] who was the site's second most active editor.[5]
On May 31, 2020, user Rman41 submitted an adoption request for the Magical Wiki to Fandom, citing Vlax-dono's inactivity. It was approved the following day by Fandom Staff, who promoted him to bureaucrat on the site.[6] One of the first decisions he made when promoted was renaming the site to Magical Vacation Wiki and redesigning the main page, including the site's logo.[7]
On September 13, 2022, Rman41 promoted user Magicwindsock to content moderator. One month and ten days later, he subsequently promoted him to administrator.[8]
Eight days later, on October 31, 2022, Rman41 created a fork of Magical Vacation Wiki on an independently hosted site called Kovopedia, after becoming worried following announcements that Fandom would be buying a large number of entertainment-related brands.[2][9] This fork included a large set of its own unique assets, namely a new logo and icon featuring a Star from the Magical Vacation series.
On November 9, 2022, the Kovopedia Discord server was fused with the Magical Vacation / Starsign server at the suggestion of Rman41.[10]
On March 2, 2023, Kovopedia was officially accepted as a member of the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance (NIWA), becoming its twenty-eighth member.[11]
On August 14, 2024, Rman41 promoted user Sailorsnightmare to administrator.[12]
