Origins

The Space Police department was founded by the first king of the Baklava system, King Panna Cotta the Pretty Smart, a visionary who believed the establishment of a constitutional government was a step further in their political evolution. A headquarters for the force was constructed in Bena Rikashi, Puffoon.[1]

Years ago when Kale regained his position in King Suspiro's palace, he and the Space Police's fighting instructor, Biek Fowler, seized authority over the force and corrupted them to the point where they no longer took orders from the king. The SP General, Knucklestorm, was disappointed with the king's negligence over the situation. He ultimately left the Space Police shortly after his daughter, Brie Pourri, joined the force. To commence his plans of universal destruction, Kale made the Space Police team up with Chard's astro pirates, so they both may kidnap magicians across Baklava at his behest.

Three months ago, Biek Fowler captured Madeleine of Will-o'-Wisp Academy during her confrontation with Kale at Couscous Ruins. He then went on vacation, but before doing so, he threatened Chief Abalon Demar to stop Madeleine's students from reaching Kale, otherwise he and his superintendent younger brother, Gil Mudflap, would get terminated.

Three months later, Officer Beignet met Madeleine's students in Cassia. Learning how the students were searching for their missing teacher, Beignet, unaware of the SP's corrupt state, encouraged them to go to Puffoon and let the SP help them.

The important files

Back in Puffoon, Mugwort convinced Chief Abalon Demar to make him a stand-in-chief for one day after he massaged his shoulders for three hours. Demar then departed temporarily, leaving Mugwort in the Space Police HQ to conceal the files listing the magicians kidnapped by pirates from the public. However, Chai stole those files, which led the SP to arrest him. He eventually escaped their grasp and hid inside a toilet bowl along with the files. At the same time, his friends were told by the secretary that the Chief was away and his "slightly incompetent stand-in" was in the bathroom. When the students entered the headquarters' bathroom, they heard Deputy Chief Mugwort yelling for toilet paper. The students handed him some, unaware their friend Chai was in the other stall.

Chai eventually escaped from the HQ along with the files while being chased by officers, successfully hiding in Brioche's house in Honey Mint as Mugwort and Brie Pourri chased after him. Chai handed over the files to his friends, revealing how among the kidnapped magicians were their teacher, Madeleine, and her capturer was Biek Fowler. Mugwort and Brie then caught up to Chai, and Brie took him away, leaving Mugwort to deal with the students; however, he lost to them, leading him to charge them for assaulting an officer. Cresson bribed him with Brioche's savings of two million bira, which Mugwort eventually accepted after some reluctance. Because of Mugwort's selfish decision, the students were able to reunite with Chai and run loose with the knowledge of who arrested their teacher.

The mysterious dismissal of Beignet's report

Officer Beignet reported to the Space Police HQ about pirate activity in Nata de Coco Door of Pescato, but the team they sent to aid him with the problem wouldn't investigate, blocking Pescato from visitors instead. The students returned to Cassia in order to retrieve the Aquarino to upgrade their rocket, so it could fly to Razen. Two space troopers forbid the students from entering the town, but Beignet found his fellow officers' actions unreasonable, convincing them to let the party through. The officers warned Beignet of the consequences of his actions before ditching their posts, aggressively pushing townsfolk Mick out of their way. Beignet rushed in to help Mick get up and return to his home, angered by the officers' aggression. The students then followed him to Mick's house. Inside, Beignet explained he reported to the HQ about pirates hiding in Nata de Coco Door, but the squad they sent wouldn't listen to him. He asked the students to help him instead; planning to distract the patrol himself while the party slip through and investigate Nata de Coco for him.

Commencing with his own plan, Beignet distracted the policemen keeping watch on the pathway leading to Nata de Coco, suggesting them to investigate a coral while the party sneaks through. When the party reached Nata de Coco door, the party discovered three pirate otters unsuccessfully slashing the vines blocking the door. Lassi yelled to point out the pirates, and Beignet quickly rushed into the area. There, Chard who was atop the door the entire time told them he knew the party would come. Beignet threatened Chard to stop before leaving to find reinforcements, but Chard dismissed him and prioritized battling the students. Once lost, Beignet returned with three other policemen. However, one of the troopers suspiciously addressed Chard as "Master Chard", which Beignet questioned. The trooper was hit from the back twice by another trooper before correcting himself, calling attention to Chard's arrest. One of them called reinforcements from Pescato West Unit, requesting an armored cruiser to arrest the pirate captain. The cruiser arrived and lowered a ladder, but Chard himself held onto it before it flew off with him. The trio pirate otters then ran away as Beignet calls to arrest them as well, chasing after them with his fellow officers.

After the students had acquired the Aquarino, Chard is dropped to the Frog Pot, with five other space troopers surrounding him. One of them asked if he's alright, to which Chard responded his injured state had nothing to do with losing from the party but rather Beignet, whom he referred to as a "country boy." Chard called Beignet an eyesore, ordering the space troopers to arrest him. They followed his orders, and Beignet was later captured and imprisoned in Razen while chasing after the pirate otters.

The imprisoned magicians

In the Shishkebab Caverns of Razen, Beignet met the students again whilst imprisoned. He admitted to them he was arrested while chasing after the pirates in Cassia, saying he heard rumors of the Space Police secretly working alongside the pirates, pointing to his state as proof. Rogan Josh found his story intriguing, but reminded the protagonist that there are others who need saving at the moment, so they all left Beignet for the time being. When the party reached the door leading to the stone stage, three space officers caught up to them and initiated a battle. The trio lost, and three more troopers came to aid them, warning them that Superintendent Gil Mudflap would show up if they continue to fail. But they lost to the students again, and the area started to reek. The officers knew Gil Mudflap was coming and intends to run away, but he arrived before they could, making the officers around him faint from his foul stench, where even the students expressed disgust. Mudflap was tasked to keep the keys of the imprisoned magicians' jail cells in Razen, as well as to stop the students from reaching Kale. Fortunately, they won against him, making him storm out in rage, not realizing he had dropped the keys.

Because of Mudflap's mistake, Rogan Josh was able to release all the imprisoned magicians, and the students reached Kale for some time. When the party reached the stone stage, Chard, who was with Kale, looked at the party and scoffed after he realized Mudflap had failed to stop the children. Celadon then protected the students from teleporting along with Kale, Chard, and the unconscious Madeleine. Later on, Beignet and Rogan Josh to catch up to them. Beignet was glad to see they're all safe and helped them get out of the area, escorting them to the inn in Paella. The next day, Beignet acknowledged the students' good deeds and assured them he will escort Semolina back to Tropica Village safely, before he bids them all farewell.

The Chief's massacre of the Water People

Some officers reported Gil Mudflap's failure to his older brother and SP Chief, Abalon Demar. This made Demar scoff, bad-mouthing everyone in the room for their incompetence. He felt as if there is no other choice and made the extreme decision of releasing an infamous war criminal, Magnus Muzzleflash, from prison to finish the students and acquire the earth gummy on Erd. Mudflap barged into the chief's office and protested his brother's decision, fearing the catastrophic consequences of releasing Muzzleflash. Demar silenced him, ordering his younger brother to join him in Cassia, intending to obtain the water gummy before the party could, mentioning he himself would also go to Gren to retrieve the wood gummy. Demar then reminded Mudflap their jobs were at stake, and Biek Fowler would fire the both of them had he returned from vacation.

Back in Cassia, officer Beignet reunited with the party at Pescato, thanking them for making the town peaceful once more. However, he mentioned someone was after the treasure on the eastern side of Cassia, and how the Space Police's main force is on a mission across the ocean, hoping the force wouldn't harm the residents. Later on at Pescato's dock, Caldarroste argued with Persimmon, saying it isn't pirate-like to take orders from the Space Police, to which Persimmon agreed with. When Caldarroste saw the party, he offered to take them to the eastern side of Cassia by boat. He explained there was a thief going after the treasure there, hence why the Space Police were called. Then he claimed that was a lie, and the ones after the treasure were none other than the Space Police themselves.

At the eastern side of Cassia, policemen blocked the students from entering the northern pathway, with one policeman accusing them of being the thieves. Caldarroste arrived to the commotion and agreed with the policeman, saying he was ordered by Persimmon to bring them to the Space Police. One of the policemen did not even know who Persimmon was, and the officer beside him explained Persimmon was a low-ranking pirate, but he reports directly to Chard. Caldarroste called the policemen useless before dashing through them and opening the doorway with force, leading one officer to chase after him. The rest of the policemen regarded the students as innocent people who were used by Caldarroste to get the treasure, but still forbidding them from entering the pathway. Sorbet asked if the treasure was the water gummy, to which they respond they could not answer such question, telling the party to turn back.

Three officers stood by the Holy Water Pyramid, when one officer mentioned Chief Abalon Demar's eventual arrival. The officer next to him did not even expect Demar to come, and he explained the Chief will get rid of the guardians and acquire the gummy. Then, the trio policemen were encountered by the party and ends up losing to them in a fight. After this, Demar and Mudflap could be seen flying into the UFO above the pyramid, which Pico claimed was an executive-level UFO. Pico later burnt down the UFO using the fire pot inside the pyramid, leading the Space Police to send out three more policemen to guard the second floor. The students later met the new guarding trio policemen who were angry at them for damaging the UFO, but they still lost against the students.

To quickly retrieve the water gummy from the Holy Water Pyramid, Demar massacred the guardians of the pyramid, the Water people, to the point of extinction. The party arrived to a sea of corpses, and a half-conscious Parfait, who witnessed everything. Sorbet asked her who annihilated the water people, and she revealed it was Abalon Demar. When Demar saw the students, whom Mudflap lost to, he questioned his brother on his failure to fight mere children. His brother insisted on fighting them once more, but Demar, irritated, sliced his glider off his head, further spreading his foul stench. Unable to handle his brother's smell, Demar invited the students to fight outside the gummy chamber. He was ultimately knocked unconscious, much to his brother's dismay. Mudflap begged his brother to wake up while the occupant officers urged to abandon their mission. And so, the rest of the Space Police abandoned the pyramid.

The return and fall of the ally-killer

In Erd, police officers gathered in Rio Villa, reporting to one another how the students are in the planet. This time, they are completely hostile to the students. Two officers gossiped about Magnus Muzzleflash's upcoming arrival, worried of the potential bloodshed. Later on, some space troopers spotted the students in an area where the spaceport used to be. Three space officers blocked them from going further and initiated a fight but did not win. The party had already left when more officers along with ex-soldier Magnus Muzzleflash arrived to the scene.

Muzzleflash later confronted the students when they were nearby the spinning flight machine, attempting to shoot at them but hit his fellow space troopers instead, who urged him to stop. Magnus did not stop shooting, leading the occupant troopers to retreat from him. Muzzleflash tried to shoot the party for a while but they dodged every shot to the point where he ran out of ammo, so he retreated.

A while later, Tektos was able to sense Muzzleflash's presence nearby and warned the students of him. Muzzleflash and his fellow troopers were floating right in front of Tektos' face, with Magnus threatening him. When Muzzleflash landed on Tektos' temple, he was met by the students who ran outside to stop him, initiating a fight between them. Muzzleflash did not win and was taken aback. His troops then reported to him of the gummy's whereabouts, possibly being in Kahve Ruins. Muzzleflash became thrilled by the report and planned to blast the ruins, leading Shallot to run outside Tektos to protest his destructive plan. Out of the blue, Tektos spoke to Shallot on entrusting the students to him, as well as for the students to steady themselves. Shallot then figured out Tektos intended to blast Muzzleflash and begged him to stop, revealing how Magnus' armor was designed by Craaken and handcrafted by the dwarves, doubting Tektos could even do him much harm. Tektos insisted on his decision, asking Mokka to lend him strength from his earth magic.

Muzzleflash returned to Tektos from a distance, spinning in front of him as he got closer. Stopping in front of Tektos, Muzzleflash did not move from his place, buying Tektos some time to charge before he triumphantly vaporizes Muzzleflash, killing the ally-killer.

The sudden forest fire

Chief Abalon Demar continued to pursue the wood gummy at Gren and met the students for some time. He watched over the burning Carbonara Jungle after Farina set it ablaze, not expecting it to be on fire when he stepped foot on the planet. He then assumed the gummy would be burnt along with the planet and was confident with his conclusion, bidding the students farewell. Demar turned out to be wrong, as the students successfully acquired the wood gummy after Semolina's sacrifice.

In Assam, some pirates mentioned they rely on the Space Police for money nowadays.

The odd beetle

Back in Puffoon, Brie Pourri was waiting for the students on the bridge near the Spaceport, who had just returned to claim the wind gummy after retrieving the wood gummy. She told them King Suspiro wanted to meet them before flying off. The students entered the palace to meet Suspiro, he spoke to them and acknowledged they've been a threat to his Space Police force, feeling quite amused about it. Suspiro then explained the Space Police no longer follows his orders and only listens to Kale, whom he referred to as an old friend, as well as Biek Fowler. He requested the students to defeat Kale, as he became a threat to the universe. The students asked him about the wind gummy's whereabouts, and he advised them to ask around in Honey Mint. When the students arrive at Honey Mint, Twigadamus answered their question with subtlety, his crystal showing the whereabouts of where they must go. They ran into former SP General Knucklestorm on their way, telling them to turn back. The students ignored him and then ran into Brie Pourri, who was searching for her father. Brie prohibited them from going further into Couscous Ruins, fearing what they might see there would ruin the Space Police's reputation. The students did not want to turn back which led Brie to fight them, but the fight was stopped by Knucklestorm, scolding his daughter for being violent. Brie begged him to return to the Space Police, even adding how King Suspiro is starting to consider change. But he found the idea ridiculous as he hopped off the cliff to avoid the ongoing conversation. Brie, irritated by her father's action, let the students loose.

As the students ventured deeper into the ruins, Knucklestorm caught up to them and warned them to leave quickly. However, he was interrupted by a series of loud thuds, revealing itself as the odd beetle. Brie appeared and pushed Knucklestorm aside to defend her father from the beetle, but the beast clawed her glider. Knucklestorm pierced the beetle with his great sword and yelled at Brie to free herself, but she insisted to protect him, begging once again for him to return to the Space Police. Due to his daughter's stubbornness, Knucklestorm ordered the students to release her instead, and they complied. Brie fell unconscious as Knucklestorm ran to her safety, leaving the students to fight the beetle themselves.

After the students eliminated the odd beetle, Knucklestorm continued to check on his unconscious daughter. Mokka brought him closure, telling him he could not detect her heartbeat, declaring her dead. Knucklestorm lamented, remembering his own tragedies. From how he lost a friend in war, how his king betrayed him, to how his daughter is now dead. As he grieved, the odd beetle's body began to flicker and ultimately disappeared, leaving the wind gummy in its stead. Somehow, the power of the wind gummy brought Brie back to life, with Mokka confirming her heartbeat. Knucklestorm was initially surprised, but was also relieved to see his daughter alive again. And so, the father and daughter duo locked in a tight embrace. Knucklestorm perceived himself as a traitor to the Space Police, explaining to Brie that facing Suspiro would not be easy for him. Brie acknowledged the hardship both of them would face, but encouraged him once more to not give up.

Some time after this, Biek Fowler had finished his vacation.

The cyborg dinosaur

Back in Razen, the Space Police blocked the entrance to Paella while working on a mysterious machine on the hills. Beignet noticed the party and lets them through, while also warning them of a terrifying machine off to the west. He explained that it seemed unfinished, not knowing what it was supposed to be, but he stressed to the protagonist to strike it right away.

Near the hills inside Paella, the students reunited with Parfait, who told them Headmaster Sturgeon requested her to help them out. She told them to go after the Space Police's monster at the hill while she acts as a decoy. This surprised Lassi, she doubted Parfait's plan would be safe for her. To stop the students from underestimating her, Parfait takes out one Space officer in front of them to demonstrate her power. With the help of Parfait, the students passed through the area to reach the Space Police's secret weapon and was spotted by two guarding space troopers, one urging the other to activate the machine. And so, the Cybersaurus was awakened, immediately attacking the students.

The students successfully defeated the Cybersaurus, turning back to realize Parfait had also defeated all of the space troopers. They returned to Paella's square when Beignet rushed in from the entrance, stressing them to run but not to his way. And to the party's surprise, Biek Fowler walked in from the entrance, chuckling to himself whilst calling Beignet a traitor. Beignet explained Fowler's identity to the confused party, with Pico recognizing his name. Sorbet insisted to fight Fowler on her friends' behalf, which Lassi and Pico protested. As their argument went on, Biek Fowler formed an energy force and attempted to charge at the party. But Beignet took the explosive blow instead, knocking himself unconscious. Fowler chuckled at Beignet's fragility, finding it interesting how his dwarven armor couldn't protect him from the blow. Then, Brie Pourri attempted to ambush Fowler but he successfully dodged her, buying some distance between him and the party. Afterwards, Brie warped the party away from him with a wind cyclone. Fowler was left alone with Beignet who was still lying on the ground, realizing Brie was a traitor as well. Brie dropped the students in front of Macaroon's Condimen Tower, where Brie urged them to hurry the dwarves on upgrading their ship, before leaving them on their own.

Some time after the students had flown to Nova, Fowler stole the etherealization machine from the Condimen Tower.

The master

Biek Fowler met the students once again in the Starway, revealing he has the etherealization machine and how the Space Police will soon take control of both Nova and Shadra. Biek then fought the party fiercely but was defeated.
