Twigadamus is a character in Magical Starsign. He is a stick possessed by a human soul who lives in Honey Mint on Puffoon, able to see into the future with his magic crystal. During the students' visits to Puffoon, Twigadamus lets them use his crystal to gather clues on how to progress their adventure.

In reality, Twigadamus is a member of House Lakeside, a prestigious family of magicians from Kovomaka Kingdom. His full name in Japanese is Pūregu Lakeside, suggesting he is related to Blueberry Lakeside from Magical Vacation.

Profile

Twigadamus is wise, friendly, and thoughtful with a youthful sense of humor. He respects any new people he meets and enjoys sharing his wisdom. His wisdom also extends to morality, advising people to not judge others' understands of right and wrong, and to pursue goals for their own sake.

Twigadamus takes on the form of an inconspicuous tree branch. It is unknown what he looked like before taking on his current form.

Biography

Early life

Several thousands of years ago, Twigadamus was a magician of House Lakeside, a lineage of aristocrats who served the royal family of Kovomaka Kingdom. He graduated from Ambergris Preparatory School on Cassia and later moved to Honey Mint on Puffoon, but after somehow losing his physical body, he transferred his soul into a stick and inhabited it ever since. At some point, Twigadamus's distant relative, Blueberry Lakeside, also graduated from Ambergris Prep.

Magical Starsign

The students met Twigadamus after their skirmish with Lt. Mugwort in Honey Mint. Before then, Brioche had sheltered Chai, who fled the Space Police carrying secret documents, but was brought back to the Space Police HQ by Brie Pourri. Brioche's father, Cresson, bribed Mugwort into leaving the students alone by offering Brioche's piggy bank of two million bira. Brioche sobbed over the loss of his money, which he planned on using to open a restaurant in the city. Just then, Twigadamus returned to the village and assured Brioche that his dream was destined to happen, as see foresaw it in his magic crystal. After Twigadamus introduced himself, Lassi exclaimed they were looking for Miss Madeleine. Twigadamus knew about Madeleine, since scholars of magic reputed her as the greatest magician since the late Craaken, but had not seen her on the wind planet. Instead, he invited the students to gather hints from his crystal, which helped them obtain the tempus forget and rescue Chai.

Afterwards, Twigadamus claimed to hear a rumor that Madeleine was taken away by Master Kale, who convinced himself that sacrificing Madeleine was the right decision. This angered the students, to which Twigadamus asked how they would feel if Kale had a legitimate reason for sacrificing their teacher. When Lassi argued that Kale had no such reason, Twigadamus laughed at her naivety and warned that by judging other peoples' understanding of right and wrong, the universe would close its heart to her. He extended this warning to the other students, encouraging them to always return to their own reasons, and to think only of helping the people they loved. He also offered support by giving them the sky book, which could teach them celestial swap.

During the students' quest to find the wind millennium gummy, they visited Twigadamus in Honey Mint at King Suspiro's request. He explained how the wind gummy was imprisoned in stone and cast into the sky, and that they could only reach it with the guidance of their souls. Gazing into his crystal, they followed the hints and eventually reached the Couscous Ruins. Once they returned to Honey Mint with the gummy, Spinach revealed that Twigadamus left the village with a message for the students, stating they could handle the rest now that they found what they needed.

Trivia

• In the game's internal data, there are battle sprites of a stick presumed to be Twigadamus. His name is listed as "Stick" (ぼう), which is a nickname used during his introduction in Japanese. According to the game's battle data designer, Hiroki Matsuura, the developers intended for the stick to be a party member, but ultimately decided that it looked too weak for the final cut of the game. Instead, they repurposed the stick as Twigadamus.
• Twigadamus's character may be loosely based on Meimei from Legend of Mana, a fortune-teller from Domina with hair shaped like a cluster of grapes. Twigadamus is also a fortune-teller, and his Japanese name is derived from the word "grape".

Nomenclature

His name is a combination of twig and Nostradamus, a 16th century French astrologer.
