The giant larva is a very large, primarily cyan covered adolescent insect, with a dark pattern along the front of its body. It has two horns, four eyes on the sides of its head, and a pair of small mandibles that it uses to consume the magic-filled gummies of Chromagar Cave.[1]
Boss
Despite having light affinity, the giant larva does not possess any light spells. It has the physical skill crush, which deals damage to the entire party. If the giant larva is attacked with a spell on an even-numbered turn, it will absorb the spell automatically using weapon vortex. When this happens, a growth will form on the back of its body; on any of the party's even turns after this using magic attacks, it will use weapon vortex two more times to create additional growths. In its own turn following the third absorption, it will use the powerful neutral spell megaburn cannon, which deals damage to the party member that last attacked it. Its poor physical resistance makes it 1.6x more susceptible to physical skills.[1][2]
This mysterious insect larva seems to absorb any magic around it insatiably, as though its feeding off the magical energies. Will it ever turn into a cocoon?

The giant larva consuming the gummies within Chromagar Cave.
Upon arriving at the end of Chromagar Cave, the party discovered the giant larva in front of the room where their teacher Madeleine was being held, now in a gummified form. In order to foil the plans of Kale, they moved to defeat it. When they managed to immobilize it, Sorbet paused in realizing that the group was slowly being turned into gummies, but Pico attempted to assure her and the rest that it was just their imagination. When they left the room, the giant larva began its transformation into the chrysalis form Shadra.[1]
