History
For thousands of years, Chromagar Cave was the nest of Shadra, a giant larva who was nourished by the magic gummies which naturally formed along the cavern's walls. The late archwizard Craaken prophesized that when the universe was set to die, Shadra would emerge from her chrysalis and devour the sun of the Baklava solar system, destroying everything in existence. Afterwards, Shadra would birth a new sun, and in turn a new universe.
Ten years ago, when Kale learned of Shadra and its namesake planet from the Book of the Darned, he sought to accelerate the apocalypse that Craaken prophesized, believing the people of Baklava were unworthy of keeping the universe alive. He banded together with Chard of the astro pirates and Biek Fowler of the Space Police, who would abducted magicians across the galaxy and bring them to Shishkebab Cavern on Razen. Once the students of Will-o'-Wisp Academy realized that Miss Madeleine was taken to Razen, they attempted to chase after Kale and Chard, but were too late as they warped into the sun with their prisoners.
Arriving at Chromagar Cave, the kidnapped magicians, and even Kale's own pirates, were presented to the giant larva and slowly crystallized by the ambient gummy fumes. Luckily, Madeleine sacrificed herself before most of them could be fed, allowing Carbon to lead the survivors out of the nest and hide in Chocomilk Caves. The students entered the cavern shortly after, but as they defeated Shadra the giant larva, she retreated into her chrysalis to fully mature. Sorbet also noticed that their bodies were being gummified, but Pico encouraged her to keep moving forward. Before they could reach Madeleine in the cavern's depths, Kale challenged them to a battle alongside his gummy giant, to which he lost and allowed him to be absorbed by Shadra's chrysalis. The students proceeded to dig through the gummy encasing Madeleine, though Sorbet expressed the futility of it all, seeing as the world was doomed whether they saved Madeleine or not. Suddenly, Mokka was overridden by his programming, nearly killing the protagonist to gain gummy energy for his battery core. At the last second, however, he malfunctioned due to having one of his components stolen by Caldarroste earlier.
While Mokka was knocked out, Madeleine telepathically ordered her pupils to feed Shadra their magic and create a new light. In doing so, a matured Shadra emerged from her chrysalis and battled the students while assuming multiple forms. She was ultimately defeated, enveloping the sun in a bright light that shone throughout the Baklava system. As the light faded, the gummies inside Chromagar Cave disappeared, including the gummy layer around Madeleine. Before the students could rejoice, Madeleine dissolved into a myriad of shining lights, and in spirit, apologized to them for not seeing their accomplishments. However, she promised to see them again in another life, confident they could rely on the friends they made to be their teachers. Afterwards, Brie Pourri and Knucklestorm flew into Chromagar Cave to escort the students back to Bena Rikashi.
Trivia
- In the English localization, after the giant larva is defeated, Sorbet will exclaim "Oh my goodness!" with her dialogue box incorrectly identifying her as Lassi.
