- "So, I'm Pico. I'm a fire wizard. Everyone says I've got a temper on me, so I guess that's not the best combo."
- ―Pico
Pico is a party member in Magical Starsign. He is a student at Will-o'-Wisp Academy who specializes in fire magic.
Profile
Pico is a daring and brash teenage boy who considers himself to be a lone wolf, when in reality, he cherishes the bonds he shares with his classmates. He has a short fuse and is quick to take action, putting brawn over brains to prove his leadership, though this tends to land him in trouble. Despite having incredible skills, Pico's grades are rather lackluster and is forced to take supplementary lessons. Nevertheless, he fights head-first for the sake of justice, and to impress his crush Sorbet.
Pico's clothing is worn by male cheer team leaders at Will-o'-Wisp sports festivals.[1] He boasts a muscular form, tanned complexion, purple eyes,[a] and spiky red-orange hair. His outfit consists of a sleeveless green turtleneck with gold trim, matching arm bracers, a blue-and-white rope belt, baggy green pants, and brown tabi socks tucked neatly into a pair of red, orange, and green ninja-style sandals. In addition, there is a sort of over-skirt layer with orange drapery, brown fabric, and red trim. On this layer, there are many geometric patterns in oranges and reds. Pico also wears blue and white horn accessories on his head.
Gameplay
Pico joins the party at Port Assam on Gren before fighting the peacock fish, starting at level 14. He uses the fire starsign, which is strong against wood, but weak to water, and gains his aura when Razen is in phase. When cast from the back row, his magic is mostly distributed equally, and can inflict scorch to prevent enemies from moving. For support, Pico's feverish might spell will greatly increase allies' stats when their hit points are low. He makes use of high power, intelligence, and MP%, but has weak agility.

Biography
Early life
Pico began teaching himself magic after his unemployed father stopped working to pursue other dreams, and later enrolled in Will-o'-Wisp Academy to hone his abilities.[b] He would provide for the family in his father's stead, while also making it his goal to strike it rich.[2] At the academy, he befriended the protagonist, Lassi, Mokka, Chai, and Sorbet, who were all in Low Class B under the tutelage of Miss Madeleine.

After class one day, Pico and his friends gathered outside Principal Biscotti's office, overhearing him talking with Madeleine about confronting Kale, a former student of hers, on Puffoon. Concerned about her mission to fight Kale and his band of astro pirates, the students entered the office and urged her to stay at the academy, but were instead brought to the meditation room for magical combat training. The day after their training session, Madeleine departed from Kovomaka to Puffoon. Her absence lasted a worrying three months, compelling Lassi to find Madeleine herself by hijacking a rocket. Thrilled by the possibility of a rocket being stored at the academy, Pico took off with Chai to investigate. The group eventually discovered a secret room in the academy's attic, leading them to a rocket bay in the clocktower. To their surprise, the roof opened as Lassi activated one of the rockets and blasted off into outer space. The other students boarded rockets of their own, to which they were scattered across the planets of the Baklava solar system.
Pico and Sorbet both crash-landed in Carbonara Jungle on Gren, though Sorbet's whereabouts were unknown. Unfortunately, Pico's carelessness resulted in him getting captured by the felins of Tropica Village and tied to a wooden post, where he was to be handed over to the astro pirates. Once his classmates arrived on Gren, he explained his predicament and how Sorbet was still missing. While the students were asleep in Nuts Lodge, the felins prepared to capture them, but retreated after Pico was secretly untied by Farina, the daughter of Tropica's chief Durum. While Durum tried to blame the students for setting Pico free, the villagers saw through his lies, realizing he was endangering magicians in order to keep Farina safe, despite her being a magician. Durum, Farina, and their handmaid Semolina were promptly exiled from Tropica, after which the students found Pico collapsed in Carbonara Jungle. He feared that the astro pirates abducted Sorbet, seeing as they were on a crusade against Baklava's magicians, and so dashed off to find her.
Arriving at the pirates' base of Port Assam, the students found Sorbet and Pico fighting several pirate otters, though Sorbet insisted she go alone. Pico continued to fight while the students proceeded to the dock, finding Sorbet with Lord Persimmon and "Farina." When Persimmon summoned the peacock fish to hold them off, Pico joined the fray and helped his friends defeat it. However, before they could save Sorbet, she willingly hopped aboard Persimmon's ship alongside "Farina" as it set sail for Razen.
After Magical Starsign
Pico resumed studying at Will-o'-Wisp upon his return to Kovomaka, but after continuously failing his classes, he decided to drop out in the spring of his eighth year.[c] He set off on a journey across the galaxy, where he defeated powerful foes, rescued people in need of help, and went on adventures worthy of being called a hero.

Trivia
- In battle, Pico is voiced by the game's character designer, Shinichi Kameoka.
- In the game's debug rooms, Pico is called Boga (ボガ Boga). This may have been his name before it was changed to Pomodoro (as he is originally known in Japanese).
- Although Pico is alleged to have feelings for Sorbet, it is never said if they get together or if she has the same feelings for him.
- Despite being a "brawn over brains" type of character, Pico ironically has the highest average intelligence stat of the party.
Nomenclature
His name comes from pico de gallo, a mild Mexican salsa made from chopped tomatoes, onions, and serrano peppers.

Notes
- ↑ Pico is depicted with purple eyes in official artwork, while they are green in his portrait sprites.
- ↑ This comes from Pico's biography on the game's Japanese webpage, whereas in the US manual, it says his father fell for get-rich-quick schemes.
- ↑ In the English localization, this was changed to Pico getting held back eight years in a row, instead of leaving the academy during his eighth year there.
