- "Kovomaka is known as the magic planet. Magic has always been at the center of its civilization, and graduates of Kovomaka's esteemed Will-o'-Wisp Academy go on to make great contributions to the planet's politics and culture."
- ―Magical Starsign United States manual[1]
Kovomaka is the planet of magic in Magical Starsign. It lies on the outskirts of the Baklava solar system, housing a large continent where Kovomaka Kingdom and Will-o'-Wisp Academy reside.
History
According to myth, Kovomaka was created several millions of years ago amidst a war between the planets of the Baklava system. People from all over sang a song of hope and brought Kovomaka, the "planet of hope" (きぼうのほしkibō no hoshi planet of hope), into existence, which the queen of light created life for and sent to the furthest reached of Baklava.[2] It was said that when the sun finally perished, people from Kovomaka would light a new fire within it, producing new voices, power, feelings, and lives.[3]
Due to being isolated from the rest of the Baklava system, inhabitants of Kovomaka deemed the existence of other planets mere fairy tales, and likewise, very few across Baklava knew of Kovomaka.[4] However, students of Will-o'-Wisp Academy would be educated on the Baklava system's planets and their relation to elemental starsigns, as per Principal Biscotti's aim to teach all he could about the universe.
For centuries, graduates of Will-o'-Wisp were the cornerstone of the planet's politics and culture, to which magical scholars began to recognize Kovomaka's existence. Several famed magicians originated from Kovomaka, including Souffle Rainbow, Pistachio Maplewood, Ganache and Vanilla Nighthawk, Miss Madeleine, and Biscotti, earning Kovomaka the title of the "magic planet" (けんじゃの星kenja no hoshi planet of sages).[5]
