Ambergris Preparatory School is a location on Cassia' in Magical Starsign. Founded on Granule Island by the archwizard Craaken, it is an esteemed institution where aspiring magicians can study advanced magic. Sturgeon is its seventeenth and most recent headmaster.

After Craaken's escape from the war on Erd, which resulted in the end of the Espresso civilization, he founded Ambergris Prep to share his wisdom of the Baklava solar system and the universe. His main focus was its sun, which contained the legendary planet Nova. To preserve his knowledge, Craaken published a grimoire called Book of the Darned: Death and Rebirth of a Sun. However, Craaken faced persecution and had most copies of his grimoire burned,[1] leaving only one left in Ambergris's library.[2]
Thousands of years later, Ambergris became well known for its numerous graduates, who would go on to become famous across the Baklava system. Kale, Rogan Josh, Twigadamus, Biscotti, Biek Fowler, and Blueberry Lakeside were among those graduates.[3] Miss Madeleine also attended Ambergris following the events of Magical Vacation, spending over eight hundred years studying and annotating Craaken's book.
Nomenclature[edit | edit source]
Its name comes from ambergris, a waxy substance found in sperm whales' intestines. Some Eastern cultures use it in spices and medicines.
