Phunnel Pit is a location in Magical Starsign. Also known as the "sun's navel,"[2] it is a cavern on Nova that used to contain an interdimensional staircase leading to Shadra.[3] The staircase was destroyed by Kale after he arrived on Nova with his captive magicians, leaving behind a pit with no discernable bottom.

History
Phunnel Pit, Glissini Caves, and the Starway, were created simultaneously when Shadra absorbed itself into the sun that contained Nova. Both suns occupied the same space but in parallel dimensions,[4] and Phunnel Pit served as a passageway between the planets. This passage was supposedly a long, winding stairway that spanned the dimensional gap, leading all the way down to the dark planet.[3]
Magical Starsign
When the party arrived at Phunnel Pit while chasing Kale, they met up with Grenadine and his team of dwarves, finding nothing but a bottomless pit in the cavern. Suddenly, a gang of pirate otter arrived and declared that the astro pirates destroyed the pathway to Shadra. Once the party defeated the pirate gang, Grenadine explained how the sun actually housed two planets in two different dimensions. With no other way forward, Grenadine opted to speak with the queen of light, the Baklava solar system's creator.
Trivia
- In Fondue's trivia of Glissini Caves' lowest level, he mistakenly refers to Phunnel Pit as Siphon Caves. Its name in this line was likely directly translated from its Japanese name, Siphon Pit (サイフォン洞), instead of using its English localized name.[1]
Nomenclature
Its name comes from funnel, a cooking tool used for guiding liquids and powder.
