- ―Gummy girl
The gummy girl is an optional boss character in Magical Starsign, fought in the Kahve Ruins on Erd. Upon defeating her, the player can access her diary, discovering that her real name was Applepie.
Profile
Personality
The gummy girl, formally known as Applepie, was a curious yet hesitant girl. She was aware of her skill in telekinesis, despite her humble personality. She held empathy towards the spiny moles she was directed to work alongside, though she frequently expressed her concern regarding a lot of Calzone's decisions. She spent a lot of her time longing to return home to Puffoon, harboring a fear that her family would no longer remember her due to the time she spent away from them.
Thousands of years after she was originally gummified, her former personality changed drastically to one that is distressed and pained. She is visibly miserable, having begged the party for help upon meeting. She is shown to have little control over her actions, behaving rashly and destructively. She is only depicted calmly when defeated, thanking those who freed her from her suffering.
Appearance
The gummy girl has a physique identical to that of a normal human girl, but with her entire body made up of green-blue gummy. Her body is capable of being greatly deformed for combat purposes.
Boss
The gummy girl can be optionally encountered by going to the top floor in the central elevator of the Kahve Ruins. She uses the dark starsign, gaining her aura when Shadra emerges at night.
She possesses the spell glamor shot, damaging every member of the party while randomizing their formation, and may also inflict curse. She also has the physical skill clinging, which attacks a single party member with the potential to lower their defense, as well as the skill scream, which attacks all members with the potential to lower their spirit.[1]
Upon being defeated, the gummy girl will drop an access card, which can be brought to the Emerald Core in Rio Villa to read her diary.

Biography
Early life
Native to the planet Puffoon, Applepie worked as a researcher under the command of her superior, Dr. Calzone. At one point, she was sent to the planet Erd as part of a research group called the Espressos; she was picked specifically because of her psychic abilities, which Calzone assumed would allow her to communicate with the spiny moles that occupied the planet. One of these abilities was telekinesis, the ability to lift objects with the mind. Prior to leaving, she told her parents goodbye in a heartfelt manner, under the impression that she may never see them again due to the nature of psychic research.
Along her journey on Erd, she recorded her thoughts in her digital diary. Within it, she expressed her concern at Calzone's four-year plan for the automation and higher sentience of ancient robots, as well as concern over whether the spiny moles truly consented to the invasive nature of her group's research. Regardless, they continued to perform experiments on psychic powers at what would become the Kahve Ruins, bringing a large number of technicians to the planet at the same time. This confused Applepie, as she did not understand what they were truly doing by "bending space," as the technicians put it. At the same time these experiments were conducted, she was informed that the financial situation on Puffoon was poor, worrying about her parents' wellbeing. While performing these experiments, her group came into conflict with the brownies, who gave them five warnings to leave the planet before they would declare war. This prompted the group to begin preparing an exit, as more stone giants began to scout the tower. Before they could leave the tower, however, the ancient robots began to rebel against their creators, and stormed the tower. She managed to destroy eight of them to defend herself, desperately attempting to make contact with Calzone through her communications. In the end, nobody answered her pleas, and she, along with the other researchers of the tower, were converted into gummies in order to be fed to the ancient robots as a power source.
Magical Starsign
Many years later, when the party returned to the Kahve Ruins to transfer gummy energy to Mokka, they discovered Applepie's gummified body at the top elevation. When she saw them, she desperately begged them for help while simultaneously attacking them. When the party managed to kill her, she thanked them for allowing her to finally rest in her last moments. In her death, she dropped an access card, which the party then took to Emerald Core in Rio Villa to access her diary; they discovered her true identity and the events that led to her being gummified.
Trivia
- In the Japanese version of the game, gummy girl has three voice lines that were removed overseas. She says "Help me..." (助けて Tasukete) when the battle begins, "Go away!" (いっちゃ Itcha) during glamor shot, and "Thank you..." (ありがとう Arigatō) when defeated.
- In the files of Magical Starsign, there exist sprites for an animation of gummy girl melting into a puddle. This animation was likely going to play after the party puts her to rest, whereas she simply fades away in the final game.
- Gummy girl and Lassi share a voice actress, who is known under the pseudonym Tanepirica.[2]
Nomenclature
Her name comes from apple pie, a desert in which the main ingredient is apples.
