Gameplay
Magical Vacation
In Magical Vacation, gummy worms can be obtained in a variety of ways, mostly from shops and enemy drops. If the party uses an MP pot with Kirsche present, and they are in possession of 20 or less worms, Kirsche will retrieve two worms from the pot, with their color being determined by the party's rank. Additionally, Olive's special power prevents battles from occurring when walking near or interacting with gummy worm holes, Peche sometimes finds coins within holes, and Chocolat may find worms under kicked rocks. Catching gummy worms is necessary for making stone spirits appear, and are also used to befriend insect spirits. However, beauty spirits threaten to leave the party if too many are caught in the overworld or purchased in shops, meaning the safest ways of obtaining worms are from chests, enemy drops, and the aforementioned special powers. The number of worms caught is visible on the report card. Excessively catching gummy worms also makes them less likely to appear and respawn, since every worm in the overworld has a set lifespan.[1]
Magical Starsign
Unlike in Magical Vacation, the capture of gummy worms has no consequences. If the protagonist is light-aligned, they can use wild magic to make all nearby worms retreat into their wormholes. Conversely, Sorbet's wild magic makes worms come out hiding. If Nogg is in the party, they can pull worms out of holes without starting a battle.[2]
Profile
Gummy worms are made of a magic gelatinous substance which houses the souls of real earthworms. The wormholes they create transcend physical laws, supposedly leading to a space between the 3rd and 4th Dimensions. When contact with a gummy wormhole is made, monsters get summoned to fight.[1][2]
Trivia
- In the files of Magical Starsign, there exist sprites of a blue-colored gummy worm.
