Salamanders are a species in Magical Starsign. They used to live in the Holy Tree Yggsalad on Gren, but were forced to move to Salamander Cave after pirate otters invaded the area.
Profile
Instead of possessing scales, salamanders have mucus membranes over their skin. They must keep the mucus as hydrated as possible to stay alive, so they habitually "SLURP" (ニョロ nyoro) their bodies.[1] The skin on salamanders' foreheads have markings, and their tails are long with pale brown caudal fins. Male salamanders have puckered red lips and a tuft of red hair at the back of their head and the sides. The males also wear green shorts with blue shoes and have bright blue eyes. The female salamanders have pink hair tied up at the back with strands of hair at the side, clipped up with red beads. Their eye color is orange with three thick, black eyelashes. A skirt of dead grass and a pink bikini top is worn for clothing, and they also wear purple shoes.
Culturally, salamanders are very close with nature and frown upon those who take advantage of Gren's ecosystem. They are also one of the few species that cannot use magic, viewing those who can as mysterious entities (ヨウカイ yōkai).[2]
Salamanders' names are mostly based on East European cuisine. In Japanese, their names are reduplications of two-syllable food words.
