Starsign Wood

Holy sapling is a boss in Magical Starsign. It is fought at Holy Tree Yggsalad on Gren.

Profile

Holy sapling is a large tree that stands on its enlarged roots. It has a face, with eyes and a nose, as well as draping leaves that form the appearance of hair.

Boss

Holy sapling has the wood starsign, gaining its aura when Gren is in phase.

It possesses the spell briar patch, damaging a single member of the party with a chance to inflict thorns, as well as celestial swap, allowing it to manipulate the alignment of the planets. It also has the physical skill unripe fruit, dealing significant damage to a single party member, as well as the skill bloom of plenty, which does the same to all party members and may inflict thorns.

If holy sapling is attacked with fire magic, a leafwich will be summoned via fall of support. Moreover, its poor physical resist makes it twice as vulnerable to physical attacks.[1]

History

Magical Starsign

The holy sapling growing within Yggsalad.

After Durum destroyed the plant that had grown inside of their home, his daughter, Farina, began to collect felins from Tropica Village and Assam to feed to Yggsalad, the Holy Tree, as a personal replacement. After collecting enough people to put in the soil, including her own father, she managed to grow the sapling into a large tree of its own within the trunk of Yggsalad. In order to protect the sapling, she used her fire magic to subjugate and command the pirate otters in Assam, creating a password for entry into the Holy Tree. To further protect the sapling, she eventually went as far as to burn down Carbonara Jungle in order to further isolate the villagers.

Farina and Semolina begin crying.

After the party extinguished and restored the plant life of Carbonara Jungle, they entered Assam and managed to crack Farina's password by talking to the pirate otters. Venturing into Yggsalad, they discovered the large burial site for the people Farina had kidnapped. They explored further into the backmost room, finding Durum barely alive. When they attempted to free him by digging, they were interrupted by the holy sapling, which was in front of them the entire time. After managing to defeat it, Farina walked into the room to discover that the sapling she had worked to cultivate had been killed. When scolded by Semolina, she apologized for all of her misdeeds, and the two cried together while embracing.

In place of the sapling, a large carnivorous flower had appeared. When the party looked to inspect it, they were stopped by the salamanders of Salamander Cave, who explained that it would consume them if they stepped any closer, due to the fact that Yggsalad was in a weakened state and needed to consume somebody to convert them into a wood millennium gummy. Hearing this, Semolina immediately sacrificed herself, and the only object remaining was the gummy. Durum, in grave shock at what had just occurred, willingly gave the gummy to the party, claiming it was Semolina's soul.
