Chocolat Cracks is a party member in Magical Vacation. A user of the stone spirit, he is a taciturn mudman who was enrolled in Will-o'-Wisp Academy 20 years ago by Principal Biscotti. After he and his classmates are attacked by enigmas at Valencia Beach, Chocolat is taken hostage by a dwarf named Quattro Formaggi, who brings him to the Dark Plane for ominous reasons.
Profile
Chocolat is very quiet and speaks in simple words. Although he tends to be absentminded and prefers moving at his own pace, he has a tender heart for his friends, and is especially fond of the woodland creatures that call his body home. He grows 2 millimeters every year,[2] and he ranks 9.9 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness.[3] His hobby is digging holes in the ground, and his favorite food is durians,[4] though it is unclear how exactly he eats food.[5]
Like all mudmen, Chocolat's body is large, egg-shaped, and made out of earth with two large arms and stumpy legs. His face is comprised of three circular holes, and small plant growths cover his head and shoulders. These plants are a type of snakeweed native to Kovomaka Kingdom, which wild chickens often come to pluck at.[6]
Gameplay
When using Scavenge!! on the magic bus, there is a chance for characters to find stat-boosting leaves growing on Chocolat.

Biography
Early life
Chocolat was long thought to be just a rock in the earth. On a hill near the academy, he stayed half-buried in the soil surrounded by grass, so nobody thought he was a living creature. Two decades ago, construction for a new road began on the hill where he was buried, and he groaned when a worker accidentally struck his head with a pickaxe. At that very moment, he was finally recognized as being alive. Upon being discovered by the construction crew, Chocolat had trouble moving out of the ground until he got scared by dug-up earthworms. He started to move, but was so slow that the earthworms caught up to him. As time passed, he began to feel nostalgic towards the sensation of worms crawling on his earthen shell, often digging holes in the ground to relive those days. He also took a liking to small animals, especially birds and lizards who lived on his body.[7]
Magical Vacation
Chocolat first appeared when everyone boarded the magic bus. He was one of the last to join as Miss Madeleine struggled to push him on board. On the drive to Valencia Beach, his classmates asked questions about his past, to which he responded mostly in single-word answers. Blueberry helped explain Chocolat's life, including how he lived on a hill near the academy, had no parents, and was enrolled into Will-o'-Wisp by Principal Biscotti after being discovered.
After the enigmas warped the students away to the Light Plane later that night, Chocolat was not seen again until the protagonist, Blueberry, Lemon, and Pêche left Rēmittsu Palace through its back gate. There, Chocolat was accompanied by a suspicious dwarf named Quattro Fromaggi, but they were gone when the students tried to pursue them. They assumed Chocolat was taken through Ibense Crag to Gearava Village, where only dwarves were allowed. Since the road to the Gearava Village was guarded, they took another path and ran into Cassis. Learning what happened to Choclat, Cassis went to find him while the others went to rescue Café au Lait from Pipplestown. Cassis eventually made it to Gearava Village as his classmates explored Condimen Tower, only to be caught in a fight and taken to the Dark Plane alongside Candy, Cidre, Cabernet, Olive, and Ganache. Chocolat and Sesame were sent there as well.
Grenadine helped the students in Condimen Tower by upgrading Café au Lait with a magic power generator. They used it to send the magic bus back to Will-o'-Wisp in the Material Plane, and Balsamico suggested they use Café au Lait's generator to reverse-activate the school's summoning machine. In doing so, it allowed the protagonist, Café au Lait, and a third student to shift into the Dark Plane. Meanwhile, Ganache guided the students who were previously sent to the Dark Plane, urging them to look out for Sesame and Chocolat.
In the Dark Plane, the protagonist's group found Cassis confronting Quattro Formaggi, who still held Chocolat captive. Quattro Formaggi revealed his ability to warp, which Cassis found odd since dwarves were a species that could not use magic. In reality, a Dab Hasnel enigma was possessing Quattro Formaggi's body and used it as a disguise. With Cassis on the team, the students ventured into Masalatea Village where an argument broke out between Cidre and his classmates. Cidre revealed that Ganache, Olive, Candy, and Cabernet went south to the Enigma Forest, suggesting that Chocolat may be there too. Before they could go south, the party sailed to Ice Island to find a cure for the ooze fever, which Chief Ginger's daughter, Cinnamon, seemed to be suffering from. They saved Mace inside the island's Gela Windhole, then were met with Quattro Formaggi yet again; however, he showed up solo. Cassis demanded to know Chocolat's whereabouts, but the enigma possessing Quattro Formaggi exposed its true form instead. Luckily, Cidre showed up in time to attack it and save everyone. Retreating once more, Dab Hasnel took Chocolat to the east end of the Dark Plane.
The party proceeded through the Dark Plane in search of their missing friends, reuniting with Sesame and Miss Madeleine along the way. They soon made it to the East Forest where tensions rose among Ganache's group, especially between Olive and Candy. The class was suddenly alerted by Chocolat's cries for help, to which Ganache and Cabernet ran off to rescue him. As for the party, they were relieved to see the magic bus warp into the Dark Plane, effectively bringing thirteen out students back together. At the same time, Ganache and Cabernet ran into a pyrite from Basorimo Village, who claimed to have seen a mudman being taken to the Morbier Volcano volcano. Ganache wondered why Dab Hasnel would settle in a volcano, and the pyrite answered by explaining that a mudman's chest cavity held their jewel "hearts". By boiling Chocolat and crumbling his body, it would allow the enigma to take the jewel and absorb its magical power.
Dab Hasnel, still possessing Quattro Formaggi, dragged Chocolat through the fiery cavern and was nearly caught by Miss Madeleine, but not before running in further. The party caught up with their teacher, then watched her use light magic to kill Quattro Formaggi and Dab Hasnel simultaneously. Once the confrontation ended, she asked her students to return to the magic bus so she could bring everyone back home as a group. However, a pyrite told Madeleine that Ganache and Cabernet had entered Kisunika Mines while trying to find Olive and Candy. Outside the entrance to the Brownie Burrow, which led to Kisunika Mines, Chocolat joined the team.
A perilous journey followed, in which the students chased Ganache and Candy through the Death Plane, since Ganache planned on fusing with the former enigma king Kerurendu. They managed to save Candy before venturing into Moginasu Magic Grotto, where they caught up to Ganache meeting with Kerurendu. Although his words were sparse, Chocolat chimed in as everyone pleaded for Ganache to come home. Fortunately, they defeated Kerurendu before the fusion could commence, but Ganache had to release all his magic. Once Kerurendu was defeated for good in the Hall of Rebirth, the class rejoiced and journeyed back to the Material Plane.
After Magical Vacation
After he graduated from Will-o'-Wisp, Chocolat stayed on a hill near the academy to enjoy the wind and birdsong.[8]

- He is the least-spoken character among the main party, with 56 total lines of dialogue.
- At 526kg, Chocolat is the heaviest party member in the series.
Nomenclature
His name comes from chocolat (pronounced sho-ko-lah), meaning "chocolate" in French. As explained in Magical Vacation Complete Guide, chocolate was considered a mystical medicine by the ancient Aztecs for its nutritional value, and even Napoleon Bonaparte stated he would not need any other food if he had chocolate.[9]
