Biography
Early life
When he was young, Mace's parents caught the deadly ooze fever. The village canins were reluctant to find the curative icy seed in Gelato Cave, since their last chief was murdered by the hailcrab that lurked within. Mace's parents eventually died from their illness, so to avoid taking accountability, chief Ginger and the villagers accused Mace of being a monster and shunned him from Masala Chai Village. Mace continued to live on the town's outskirts, where Ginger's daughter Cinnamon paid him frequent visits. Their romantic interest developed over time, with Cinnamon doing favors for Mace such as baking him cheesecake.
Magical Vacation
Shortly after warping into the Dark Realm, the party arrived at Mace's house and watched him talk with Cinnamon. She promised him the villagers would eventually welcome him back into the village, though Mace remained doubtful. The party visited Ginger later on, to which his servant warned him that Cinnamon was still hanging out at Mace's house. Mace then showed up outside Ginger's house, telling the servant he retrieved a handkerchief that Cinnamon left behind. The servant forbade Mace from giving the handkerchief to Cinnamon in-person, advising he wait until tomorrow to get Ginger's permission. At the inn, Mace told the party that Cinnamon purposefully left her handkerchief behind, believing it would make him appear more trustworthy to the canins. Suddenly, the innkeeper intervened and explained how the villagers left Mace's parents for dead, also informing him of the icy seed in Gelato Cave.
The next morning, Mace talked with Ginger's servant once again and asked to see Cinnamon. Unfortunately, he was turned away, as Cinnamon had allegedly caught ooze fever after being near him for too long. Overcome with guilt, he vowed to find the icy seed and boarded a boat to Gelato Cave on Ice Island. The party quickly sailed to Ice Island as well, finding Mace collapsed in the depths of Gelato Cave. The hailcrab suddenly attacked, but they managed to defeat it and keep the canin safe. Despite being injured, he hobbled back to Masala Chai Village with the icy seed in his possession.
Back in Masala Chai, Mace presented the seed to Ginger's servant, only to be denied access and accused of seducing Cinnamon. Dejected, he handed over the seed and asked that it be fed to Cinnamon, promising to leave the village forever. The party was given it instead, so they entered Ginger's house to investigate Cinnamon's condition. In actuality, she never came down with ooze fever, and was only quarantined as a way to get Mace to either die or leave the village. Ginger admitted that Mace was far braver than any man in Masala Chai, to which Cinnamon berated him and ran away. Soon after, the party caught Cinnamon up on Mace's situation, compelling her to venture the Dark Realm in search of the lost canin.
Mace would not be seen again until the party passed through Muy Mot Desert, finding him inside Opopmat Cave. He told them of his recent endeavors, which involved gathering putty peas to repopulate Osim Village with putties. Learning that Cinnamon was searching for him, Mace opted to set out and meet with her, so the party let him borrow their magic doll, MD04-Flounder. As repayment, he taught a special whistling technique to Cider, which let him move gray-feathered ricebirds.
Later on, Mace and the party crossed paths in Abos Village, where he continued to express worry over the putties. Luckily, the students owned a putty pea, so Mace urged them to give it to Bachelard in Osim Village. After doing so, they found Cinnamon at Abos Village's inn and told her that Mace had left for Osim. The two canins were finally able to reunite, and Mace decided that he and Cinnamon were going to live in Osim Village for the rest of their life.
Trivia
- When Mace moves to Osim Village, he adopts the putties' habit of saying でぺたん depetan at the end of each sentence.
