Magic dolls, or MDs, are party members in Magical Vacation. They are recruited throughout the game, and can be customized with MD parts.

Gameplay

Unlike regular party members, magic dolls do not have experience points, levels, magic levels, or stat increases. Their stats are also unaffected by ranks earned in Let's Battle. Also, they do not inherently have stats; instead, they must be equipped with materials called MD parts and bewitched (入魂Nyūkon soul-set) by a character's soul. To bewitch a MD, it must be equipped with one of each type of MD part, then a character's soul can be transferred into it via its Profile in the menu. The MD will inherit the character's stats (not including stat boosts from the character's equipment) and learned magic, though only one MD, MD01-Tuna, is able to regenerate its own magic points. For this reason, MDs are best suited for physical combat, using items, or calling spirits to the field.

Stats

Magic dolls possess a unique set of stats that are affected by their equipped MD parts, and the characters bewitching them. These parameters are type, power multiplication, power limit, and required power. The values of these parameters will affect an MD's power, defense, spirit, and agility.

  • Type (タイプTaipu Type) is the grade of the MD's shell. For example, the scampi shell is präparat grade, while the yurero shell is prism grade. However, this parameter is purely cosmetic and does not affect the MD's stat changes in any way.
  • Power scale (パワー倍率Pawā bairitsu Power scale) is a percentage value that determines how much a bewitched soul's stats are amplified. If the MD's power scale is 50%, only half of the soul's strength is drawn out, but at 200%, the soul's strength is doubled.
  • Power limit (パワーリミットPawā bairitsu Power limit) is the maximum amount of power that can be drawn from the bewitching soul. If this value is 20, then only 20 points of a certain stat (e.g., agility) will be used by the MD, even if the bewitching character's agility is higher than 20.
  • Required power (必要パワーHitsuyō pawā Required power) is the power needed for the MD to operate. If this value is 10, for example, the stats of the bewitching soul must be 11 or higher to be fully used by the MD. The lower this stat, the better the MD's performance.
