Cabernet Cheaptrick is a party member in Magical Vacation. He is a puppet and a student at Will-o'-Wisp Academy who uses poison magic.

Gameplay

Cabernet is the thirteenth classmate to be recruited by the party, joining in Toptoh Mines. His initial levels are level 38 and magic level 16.

His element is poison, represented by the spirit Gloomy. Its magic covers single and square areas, and can inflict poison to chip off extra damage each turn. As for his stats, Cabernet is very well-rounded and versatile.

Personality

Cabernet is a mischievous boy who pulls pranks for attention and has a pessimistic view on life, but in actuality, he is petulant and very spoiled. Despite this, he yearns for genuine friendship. In Japanese, he tends to end sentences with ヌ～ nu~.

Appearance

Cabernet's body is made of wood with orange face paint under his cheeks, and a long nose. The straw hat he wears is inhabited by a magical frog, which is decorated with a red bandana. He has purple eyes, and purple hair in dreadlocks with red ties, as well as a pair of hoop earrings. His torso of choice is a sleeveless red overshirt with orange crosses around the waist. Around his lower body is a gray kilt with the same cross patterns held up by a tied purple cloth. For shoes, he wears gray and purple loafers.

Biography

Early life

Five years ago, Cabernet's father gave him a frog and said, "This is a magic frog. If you stick with this frog, you'll become an amazing magician. It'll be your mentor from now on." Cabernet's classmates all laughed at him when he showed them the frog, but after spending five years in his hat, it became known as one of the Seven Wonders of Will-o'-Wisp Academy. When Cabernet asked his father about the frog later on, he said he was too drunk to remember anything about it. At the academy, Cabernet stole Blueberry Lakeside's bag, though she could not defend herself because of a bodily condition. However, he stopped when Lemon Airsupply intervened and pummeled him.

Three years before Magical Vacation, Cabernet watched his brother Chardonnay confront Vanilla Nighthawk, who had returned to Will-o'-Wisp from the Valencia Beach Seaside School. Chardonnay noticed Vanilla had become more reclusive and acted irrationally, asking if his father said something mean to her. Vanilla remarked that she could sense peoples' hatred towards her for having the blood of the dark spirit. Chardonnay's attempts to reason with Vanilla were for naught, as she abandoned the academy shortly after. Two years later, Chardonnay and the royal army were deployed to confront a monster that appeared in the kingdom. The monster killed Chardonnay and two hundred other soldiers, but was eventually sealed in Chiboust Castle by Biscotti. Before Chardonnay passed, he wished to be buried on a hill overlooking Chiboust Castle, at which point Cabernet realized the monster may have actually been Vanilla.

Cabernet traveled to the home country of the frog that lived in his hat. There, he learned all kinds of peculiar magic and became the frog country's guardian.
