Cassis Lumberyard is a party member in Magical Vacation. 16 years old, he is a student at Will-o'-Wisp Academy with a gift for the blade spirit whose late father had power among the societal underground. When he and his classmates are taken to the Light Plane by enigmas, Cassis searches for Chocolat after he is taken hostage by a suspicious dwarf, leading him to the Dark Plane where he teams up with the protagonist's group.
Profile
Although Cassis sometimes comes off as snide and rude at times, he is actually quite serious and treats his classmates with sincerity. He is known to have been a delinquent in the past, especially after the unexplained death of his father, but learned to be more appreciative of life in his teen years. He collects knives as a hobby and enjoys peeling apples and potatoes, since he prepares dinner for his widowed mother. Cassis is also very flirtatious and teases the girls he likes, having a preference for self-centered and egotistical girls,[2] but this bad habit and his rough-cut tone make him somewhat untrustworthy. He has dubious romantic interest in Arancia and Blueberry, is somewhat friends with Cidre despite their differences, and feels sympathetic towards Cabernet.[3] His favorite food is dadacha,[4] a type of giant greenish-brown soybean.[5]
His hair is silver in color and reaches down to his ankles, and his eyes are mauve purple. For clothes, he wears a sleeveless violet jumpsuit with three red pockets on either leg, and red leg openings. Over the jumpsuit is a red vest with silver buckles, and a small pouch is slung over his shoulder. His arms are cloaked with red lantern sleeves detached from his vest, as well as gold armlets below his shoulders. Cassis's choice of footwear is a pair of brown boots.

Biography
Early life
Cassis was born with connections to the societal underground through his father, a master of the blade spirit. When Cassis was young, his father died under mysterious circumstances and the cause was kept secret from him. He would often get into fights around Castle Town, but after playing with a group of impoverished children, he realized there was no point in being miserable and decided to be more appreciative of life.[6] The boss of the underground organization, who was indebted to Cassis's father, stepped in as his new paternal figure and raised him to be self-sufficient. With the boss's help, Cassis learned to grow potatoes and make dinner for his mother, who often came home late from working overtime.[7]

After Magical Vacation
When Cassis returned to Kovomaka Kingdom, he gave everything he acquired on his journey to the poor children in Castle Town until he had nothing left, then set out on another journey by himself.[8]
Trivia
- In MagiVaca ni Matsuwaru Uwasa, it is revealed that Cassis removes his entire one-piece when he uses the washroom,[9] uses sheer willpower to keep his hairstyle in place,[10] carries coins in his satchel,[11] and spends an undescribed amount of time washing and drying his hair.[12]
Nomenclature
His name comes from cassis, meaning "blackcurrant" in French, sweet fruits that are often processed into jams.
