Cabernet Cheaptrick is a party member in Magical Vacation. He is a puppet enrolled in Will-o'-Wisp Academy who uses the poison spirit, and is the younger brother of Chardonnay Cheaptrick.
Profile
Cabernet is a mischievous boy who likes to pull pranks for attention, and seems to have a pessimistic view on life, but he is actually petulant and very spoiled. His mean behavior is rooted in a dark past and he yearns for genuine friendship, going so far as to incessantly follow Ganache in his dangerous escapades. His hobby is playing pranks, and his favorite food is Hamburg steak.[2] In Japanese, he ends his sentences with ヌ～ nu~.
His body is made of wood with orange face paint under his cheeks, and a long nose. The straw hat he wears is inhabited by a magical frog, which is decorated with a red bandana. He has purple eyes, and purple hair in dreadlocks with red ties, as well as a pair of hoop earrings. His torso of choice is a sleeveless red overshirt with orange crosses around the waist. Around his lower body is a gray kilt with the same cross patterns held up by a tied purple cloth. For shoes, he wears gray and purple loafers.

Biography
Early life
Five years ago, Cabernet's father gave him the Frog Master (カエル師匠) and told him that it would help him become an incredible magician. This frog possessed magical powers, but also put a curse on Cabernet that made it impossible for him to pick up gummy frogs.[3] Everyone laughed at Cabernet when he brought the Frog Master to Will-o'-Wisp Academy, but after living in his hat for a while, it became one of the academy's seven wonders. When Cabernet asked his father about the frog, he stated was too drunk at the time to remember.[4] At some point, Cabernet's older brother Chardonnay started dating Vanilla Nighthawk, and Cabernet became friends with Vanilla's younger brother Ganache.

After Magical Vacation
Cabernet traveled to the Master Frog's home country, where he learned all kinds of peculiar magic and became its guardian.[5]
Trivia
- He and Vanilla share a birthday on October 18.
- Cabernet has a vague understanding of the water people's Aquarim Language. He admits that he can pick up on some of the grammar, but knows little else.[6]
- It is possible that the Frog Master is from the Water Plane, since Cabernet knows some of its native Aquarim Language, and a water people tells Blueberry that there is a country of frogs somewhere on the Water Plane.[7]
- Cabernet's curse causes him to spin when he touches a gummy frog, but because he does not have semi-circular canals, he cannot get dizzy.[8]
- He dislikes eating gummy frogs.[9]
- In early screenshots of the game, Cabernet is seen at Benakoncha Ruins on the Light Plane. This suggests that he was planned to join the party much earlier, and possibly have special interactions with the puppets of Torūna Village.
Nomenclature
His name comes from Cabernet Sauvignon (pronounced ka-br-nay sow-vuhn-yown), a popular variety of grape wine.
