Blueberry Lakeside is a character in Magical Vacation. She is a member of the main party with water-attribute magic, and a descendant of the esteemed House Lakeside who serve Kovomaka Kingdom. Her frail body prevents her from fulfilling her royal obligations, but she is devoted to her studies at Will-o'-Wisp Academy nonetheless. Blueberry's grandmother has taught her the ways of water magic since she was 7, and has even traveled with her to the Water Plane to meet the ancient water people and learn their Aquarim Language. Her best friend is Lemon Airsupply, who saved her from bullies shortly after she enrolled at the academy.
Magical Vacation is the first game in the series, released in 2001 for the Game Boy Advance. Although it was never released outside of Japan, it received an incomplete English-language translation patch in 2016. The story involves 16 students of Will-o'-Wisp Academy as they attend the Valencia Beach Seaside School, only to be transported to another world by creatures called enigmas. Players must reunite the class, foil the enigmas' plans, and uncover the mysterious truth behind the academy's founding.
Combat is fixed around 16 magic attributes represented by spirits, which increase the damage of magic when called in battle. Players can also learn new magic, compete with other players, and unlock hidden content using the game's Communication mode.
Magical Starsign, known in Japan as Magical Vacation: Itsutsu no Hoshi ga Narabu Toki, is the second and final game in the series, released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS. Set hundreds of years after Magical Vacation, it follows six students in Will-o'-Wisp's Class B as they try to solve the disappearance of Miss Madeleine. They also make enemies with Madeleine's former student Kale, whose mission is to destroy the Baklava solar system.
While magic is narrowed down to eight attributes, also known as starsigns, the effectiveness of spells is influenced by party formation, and whether a starsign's associated planet is in phase. The game's Amigo Mode also allows players to compete in the Amigo Dungeon, send personalized letters, and unlock special egg characters.
Uchū no Kishi is an unfinished manga adaptation of the original plot of Magical Vacation 2, taking place in an alternate continuity after Magical Vacation. It follows Mash Blanc and Sugar Ronsard who, joined by senior students at Will-o'-Wisp, investigate an alien life-form known as the "Sheep" after it crash lands on Kovomaka.
Serialized from May to October 2008, the manga ended on a cliffhanger due to internal restructuring at Brownie Brown, with the first six parts constituting the story's first chapter.
