Sword of Mana

Brown at Subland River

• In Fuji's storyline, the player must retrieve a book belonging to a boy in Topple village. Upon retrieving the book, the boy states it is titled "Magical Vacation", a story about students who attend a magic school and defeat enemies with elemental magic. In Japanese, the boy's book is titled "Magic Summer Vacation" (魔法の夏休み, Mahō no Natsuyasumi)), a nod to Magical Vacation's working title Mahō no Natsuyasumi: the magical vacation.
• Mana Spirits can be recruited around the world, joining the player by offering coins and meeting certain criteria like in Magical Vacation. Recruiting new Mana Spirits increases the effectiveness of magic abilities, and frequently casting magic increases the spirits' levels for enhanced damage and healing.
• Brownie Brown's mascot, Brown the brownie (Mr. Brown in the English localization), makes a cameo appearance in the Subland River area. When talked to, he introduces himself as the leader of the Brownie Clan, and rambles on about nearby places, the names of which are corruptions of popular American locations. He offers to give the player rare accessories, among them being a brownie ring. In Japanese, the locations referenced by Brown are corruptions of Tokyo districts, and the item he offers is brownie earrings.
• Gummy frogs (localized as GummiFrog) are consumable items in the game. Instead of restoring HP, eating a GummiFrog sets the player's Deathblow gauge to MAX.
• Sword of Mana utilizes an Amigo system like Magical Vacation, which is also called Communication. Registering Amigos unlocks summon cards, the most powerful one being obtained at 100 link-ups.
• An accessory called the Bath Set, a seemingly running joke in Brownie Brown games, exists in the internal files of Sword of Mana, though the item itself cannot be obtained without cheats.

Super Smash Bros. series

• In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mokka, a putty, and a pyrite appear as collectible trophies. The Magical Vacation protagonists (named Boy and Girl), the male Magical Starsign protagonist (named Boy), Kirsch (localized as Kirsh), an HP Pot, and a sparrow also appear as seals.
  • The Magical Vacation Boy increases the wearer's throwing power while Girl increases magic, referencing their stat growth in Magical Vacation. The Magical Starsign Boy increases the strength of fire-based attacks, possibly referencing his appearance as Mash Blanc in Uchū no Kishi, who uses fire magic.
• Super Smash Bros. Ultimate reintroduces the Magical Vacation protagonists, Mokka, and a putty as spirits.
  • The Magical Vacation Protagonists's spirit battle involves element-based items, which the representative Villagers make use of. This references the various spirit attributes in Magical Vacation.
  • Mokka's spirit battle afflicts combatants with reduced speed, either referencing how ancient magic can lower enemies' agility, or how earth magic can turn enemies to stone.
  • In the putty's spirit battle, the representative Wii Fit Trainer has increased resistance to melee attacks, likely referencing the putty race's ability to repel swords with their bodies.

A Kappa's Trail

• If the player-controlled kappa is guided to a clam next to their underwater house, they will come out looking like a putty.

EGGLIA series

• Species originally from the Magical Vacation universe appear in EGGLIA. Characters of these species include Jazoo, Dansa, Tango, and Salsa of the wolks race; Brown, Sepia, and Ol' Russet of the brownie race; and Gooey, Oozy, and Yukky of the enigma race. Brown is once again in reference to Brownie Brown's mascot, and Jazoo wears pants on his head like Pistachio.
• Elemental spirits can be equipped to the player character Chabo, which affect his stats and abilities.
• While the world design is more comparable to Legend of Mana, EGGLIA's world is made up of layered planes of reality like in Magical Vacation. These planes include Egglia, where the game takes place, and the Misty, the realm of the niebel people.
