Pursuit rockets in Will-o'-Wisp's clocktower

Pursuit rocket is a concept in Magical Starsign. It is the first type of spacepod obtained by the party, stored in a rocket bay within Will-o'-Wisp Academy's attic, which the students hijack at the start of the game.

Profile

The pursuit rockets are small arrow-shaped vessels made of teal metal and curved golden embellishments. It is encompassed by three arched fins that extend from the main body before liftoff. The tip has a red sphere with ventilation holes, golden fins, and a golden probe. When activated, the probe and parts of the fins emit a faint light.

The rockets also have reserves for sponge gourd water, better known as kovo water, which serves as an engine coolant and emergency HP-restoring beverage.[1]

History

Magical Starsign

Worried over the disappearance of Miss Madeleine, who set off for Puffoon three months prior, Lassi snuck into the attic of Will-o'-Wisp Academy where six pursuit rockets were stored. Her classmates managed to find Lassi, but she blasted off into outer space before they could stop her. The protagonist boarded one of the rockets and chased Lassi, who quickly lost control as she collided with an asteroid, sending her plummeting to Erd. As for the other students, they blasted off on the remaining rockets and got scattered across the Baklava solar system. Mokka's crashed on Cassia, Chai's was docked on Puffoon, and Pico's and Sorbet's landed on Gren.

When the protagonist found Lassi unconscious at Quiet Plateau, they retrieved a vial of kovo water to revive her. Their rockets' healing functions could still be used, but they were otherwise inoperable.

Trivia

  • A pursuit rocket will be shown on the player's save file until they first arrive on Cassia, after which it is replaced by Neumann.
  • Although these rockets are never given a specific name in-game, the gallery on Brownie Brown's old website refers to them as "pursuit rockets."[2]
