Uchū no Kishi (宇宙の騎士, lit.literally Knight of the Universe) is an unfinished online manga series based on the original plot of Magical Vacation 2, which later became Magical Starsign.
New issues were uploaded to the now-defunct Brownie Brown website, br2.co.jp, once a month, beginning in May of 2008. By October 2008, the serialization of Uchū no Kishi was discontinued after six parts, ending the story on a cliffhanger. At the start and end of each part, Hiroki "Mattsun" Matsuura left blurbs describing moments within the manga, as well as events at Brownie Brown. Mattsun revealed that Uchū no Kishi was the original scenario of Magical Vacation 2, but the concept was scrapped despite being written to completion, and assets from early development were revamped for Magical Starsign. Therefore, both Uchū no Kishi and Magical Starsign can be considered sequels to Magical Vacation, but take place in separate continuities.
Plot
One night, a meteorite lands on the outskirts of Kovomaka Kingdom. The kingdom's Elite Force Magic Knights and Vanilla Nighthawk's White Hawk Magic Knights arrive at the crash site, wondering if the meteorite is the "Sheep who falls from the heavens", an alien life-form said to bring calamity according to a book of prophecy.
Elsewhere, six students from Will-o'-Wisp Academy travel to the crash site, intending to join Vanilla and her team in their investigation. The group consists of Mash Blanc,[a] Sugar Ronsard,[b] Arancia Scorenote, Pistachio Maplewood, Cidre Rainbow, and Souffle Sherbet. As they approach the site in Eldile Plains, Souffle tries detecting Vanilla's voice, but she cannot be heard.
Meanwhile at the royal palace, King Geasshigaou Ōden is told that both brigades of magicians were annihilated, reported by a surviving member of the Elite Force. The king's counsellor Khao Yam is confident that the meteorite is the fabled Sheep, judging by how quickly it dealt with the soldiers that were deployed. King Ōden talks with Khao Yam afterwards, mentioning that he deployed Vanilla because she fused with an enigma in the past, which gave her incredible powers. Just then, Miss Madeleine of Will-o'-Wisp Academy enters the room.
The students find the awakened Sheep, who promptly strikes Sugar. As Mash rushes in to help her, Cidre, Arancia, and Pistachio call their spirits and use magic to fight back. To their shock, the Sheep is unaffected, and it blasts most of the students away. As Mash and Sugar fear that their schoolmates were killed in the attack, Souffle appears and summons Kerurendu.
