Amigo Mode, known in Japan as Communication,[a] is the multiplayer feature of Magical Starsign. It allows players to connect their own copies of the game over the Nintendo DS's Wi-Fi wireless functionality.

Activities

Tag Mode

Tag Mode, known in Japan as Pass By Communication,[b] is a feature where players can wirelessly link up with each other and register data in their own amigo lists. Many items are obtainable through Tag Mode, depending on the players' protagonists' affinities and in-game progress. Tag Mode is also used for collecting and hatching egg characters in Neumann.

Downloadable content

In the summer of 2006, players could go to DS Download Stations at select stores and download data via Tag Mode. Two events utilized this feature, those being the justice squadron figurines[1] and Miss Madeleine's Letters. A Tag Mode relay service was also held at Download Stations, allowing players to quickly register 100 amigos. However, this service and the downloadable events were both Japan-exclusive.

Amigo Dungeon

In Amigo Dungeon,[c] up to six players bring their characters and compete for points, which can be earned by opening chests, defeating exclusive monsters, and earning rare items. The three Amigo Dungeons are located in Will-o'-Wisp Academy, Carbonara Jungle, and Capsicum Caverns.

The Amigo List[d] allows the player to view each amigo they have registered, as well as the registrants' protagonists' starsign. Tapping on an amigo displays the registrant's custom message, and when and where the message was authored. The amigo book is obtained when 10 amigos are registered, which teaches the neutral spell amigo parade to party members.

Trivia

  • The functions of Amigo Mode were explained in a short manga titled Amigo with You.
  • Neumann the Magical Rocket will always appear in Tag Mode, even before the protagonist and Lassi actually hijack Neumann at Kahve Ruins.
