Project B was a page on Brownie Brown's former website br2.co.jp. Starting in 2005, it is comprised of smaller pages which culminate as a dramatic, satirical retelling of Brownie Brown's development of Magical Starsign, and later Mother 3, while challenging Nintendo employees along the way.

Plot

When the Five Stars Align

Part 1: Introduction

Perspective: Inoue

The story begins with Inoue receiving confidential documents from N Co. (N社), which kicks off Brownie Brown's development for a new game. Plans for a new handheld console, the Nintendo DS, are detailed in the documents, and staff are eager to see features such as its dual screens, touch screen input, and Game Boy Advance cartridge compatibility. Speculative of the DS's potential criticisms, Inoue and seven other planners aim to create a novel RPG experience with the new hardware.

Part 2: A Project is Born!

Perspective: Ooin

Production commences on the new project, Magical Vacation DS. and Brownie Brown staff proposes several unconventional and unique features they could use on the new DS hardware. These ideas include improving the player's intellect, fitness, and romance potential, but Ooin proposes they narrow all of those down to a singular "hypnotism" mechanic. Hypnotic radio waves would be broadcast from the system to the player, which would not only turning their dreams into reality, but also encourage them to inform others about the game.

Unfortunately, the scope of the project changes, so the staff prays for ideas from God, who tells them to make a game where players hypnotize each other. Ooin imagines players battling each other over wireless communication, spinning coins to characters in the game and issuing hypnotic commands into the microphone. From this idea, the working title Magical Vacation DS ~The Strongest Hypnotist (マジカルバケーションDS~最強の催眠術師~), the world's first Hypno RPG, is established.

Part 3: We Got Him!

Perspective: Sakai

Several days are spent discussing the tentative hypnosis mechanic for Magical Vacation DS, and whether it will actually be interesting for players―the project's "axis." Inoue ultimately rejects the hypnosis concept, to the staff's shock, but Sakai takes a photo of Inoue's head before their meeting ends. Sakai then meets with his friend Mizumoto, a fan of the paranormal, and identifies a ghostly creature floating near Inoue's ear. This creature turns out to be the tea table-flipping yōkai (妖怪ちゃぶだい返し), a spirit who tells directors to abruptly overturn their staff's progress mid-development. To dispel the yōkai, the staff try to remain positive despite the rejection of their concepts. Afterwards, planning for the new gaming axis of Magical Vacation DS is underway.

Part 4: Conference Room of Wailing Demons - BB’s Secrets

Perspective: Arayan

Arayan walks through the city, thinking about Brownie Brown's struggle to conceive ideas for an RPG on a system as marvelous as the DS. Joined by an employee of N Co., Brownie Brown staff wail from inside the conference room and press against the windows, delirious from a lack of oxygen. After work, Arayan looks out to the city from the office's fire escape, reflecting on what a certain "President" (社長) told him when he was hired at Brownie Brown. According to the President, hard-working brownies lived in the company, though Arayan had yet to see one himself. Arayan continues to ponder, hoping the brownies can keep him and the staff motivated enough to develop for Magical Vacation DS, and also to prevent another overturning incident.

Part 5: Kunimiso's Adventure

Perspective: Kunimiso

This section is played out through a Flash game, presented in the style of a battle in the Mother series. Four Brownie Brown employees face off against the "N Co. person" (N社の人), a man wearing a white button-up shirt, black cloak, and Darth Vader mask.

Part 6: Fierce Struggle, the Grand Finale

Perspective: Mattsun

Mattsun starts getting fed up with his coworkers, remarking how Kunimiso fell asleep on the floor after a long interview, and how Arayan and Sakai are claiming to see spirits around the office. He distances himself from the chaos, especially because he is new to the company, but eventually gathers his courage and sends a letter of challenge to N Co., pitting their game proposals against Brownie Brown's. The Vader-masked N Co. man returns to the office and fights Mattsun in a game of rock-paper-scissors, and Mattsun is nearly beaten to death in the conference room. Five hours later, they settle over a video game and snacks, to which the N Co. man admits defeat and lets Mattsun propose his own concept. Inoue rejects it.

Part 7: Here Comes Hurricane Princess!

Perspective: Akkī

The team commences their "Hypnosis Game Project" without N Co.'s knowledge. They manufacture a hypnotic radio wave amplification device (a pendulum affixed to the Nintendo DS's top screen with a plastic straw), and plan on using it to manipulate N Co.'s personnel into thinking their concept is interesting.

The N Co. man enters the office and is handed the customized DS, but appears to be possessed by the tea table-flipper. Inoue continues to assert the game's appeal, and the pendulum successfully brainwashes the N Co. man. Just as the team celebrates, they notice Mattsun being stepped on by a woman in a pink butterfly mask wielding a whip—the lady of N Co., Hurricane Princess (ハリケーンプレインセス). She kicks Mattsun's blissful dead body over to Arayan, exclaiming that the team will make their game as she sees fit, then berates the N Co. guy for falling for the team's hypnosis trick. From then on, Hurricane Princess takes full control of the company and attacks dissenters with her BIKINI Temptation (BIKINIテンプテーション) attack.

Part 8: Mmm, Canned Mackerel!

Perspective: Inoue

Hurricane Princess offers a new concept for the planning team: a game where players progresses by adequately kissing the touch screen. Akkī and Arayan disapprove, but Arayan is knocked out by a BIKINI Temptation before he can explain the flaws of Hurricane Princess's idea. With everyone but Akkī and Inoue under her control, Akkī gets fed up with the abuse and flees the office.

Akkī returns the next day to find a DS at his desk, this time with a stylus attached to a string on the top screen. A "dowsing" concept pops into his head, and he envisions a game where psychic FBI agents dowse for dead bodies. Picking up the DS, Akkī sees a map of Kichijōji on the bottom screen, as well as a note from the Mystery Planner (ナゾのプランナー). While Akkī is hesitant to follow the map at first, he recalls an event from three days ago involving a new employee named Makkī Suzuki, who was working hard enough to possibly take over Akkī's position.

Resolving to defeat Hurricane Princess, Akkī follows the Mystery Planner's clue. He concentrates on the DS's dowsing apparatus, leading him to a spot in Inokashira Park with flaming determination. He finds a toy lightsaber with a stylus on the tip, then the bottom screen of the DS displays rushing water. Akkī sets the DS near a river and perches on a railing, using the lightsaber like a fishing rod while he waits for fish to swim across the screen. This revolutionary gaming experience, which he dubs the DS Touch Pannel Fishing System (DSタッチパネルフィッシングシステム) (also known as the Handsome System (イケメンシステム)) strikes him with inspiration, and he wonders if this was part of the Mystery Planner's scheme. Unbeknownst to Akkī, a mysterious figure watches him from behind.

Part 9: Yeah, Let's Go to Kyoto!

Perspective: Ooin

Akkī leaves the mysterious man behind at Inokashira Park and returns to Brownie Brown's office with the DS Touch Pannel Fishing System (a.k.a. Handsome System). He unleashes the system upon his lethargic coworkers, including Makkī, with an Iron Fist of Justice and demonstrates it with an impressive mix of Russian and Pakistani jokes. Receving a standing ovation, the system's appeal allows Akkī to overcome both the N Co. man and Hurricane Princess, and he compares his triumph to the enemies in the first ten hours of the TV series 24. System in hand, he hurries for Kichijōji Station and boards the Chūō Line bound for Tokyo.
