The Day Before the Seaside School
MagiVaca: The Day Before the Seaside School is a prequel manga illustrated by Shinichi Kameoka, taking place one day before Magical Vacation. It first appeared in the January 2002 issue of V Jump,[citation needed] then was later featured in the V Jump Books Magical Vacation strategy guide, as well as the official Nintendo Magical Vacation webpage.
Plot[edit | edit source]
After Miss Madeleine dismisses her class for the day, Kirsche Pintail and Sesame Ashpot talk about their upcoming trip to Valencia Beach. Kirsche declares that spending the summer there will help him become a real man, and Sesame asks if that means he will ask Arancia Scorenote to be his girlfriend. Kirsche bats Sesame over the head, saying his love for Arancia was childhood foolishness. Just then, Arancia walks up to the boys with Pistachio Maplewood and asks Kirsche if he wants to go shopping, but he rudely replies by telling Pistachio to carry her bags instead. Lemon Airsupply joins in with Blueberry Lakeside, poking fun at how Kirsche's rudeness would make his future wife would him, to which Kirsche insults Lemon back and receives an electric shock.
Cassis Lumberyard and Cidre Rainbow[a] arrive shortly after, both of whom Kirsche dislikes. Cidre proclaims being kind to girls makes them prettier, but Cassis runs off when he realizes that Arancia is single. When he and Cidre leave, Sesame wonders if his friend is okay with people swooning over Arancia. Kirsche could care less, telling Sesame that it means less people will be pining for his true crush, Candy. Sesame recalls Candy saying she was in love with another boy, making Kirsche incredibly furious. Desperate for answers, the boys try to figure out who Candy's love interest is, their first omissions being Chocolat Cracks and Café au Lait Rustynail.[b] Sesame suggests they consult Olive Tearclown, who supposedly has the power to understand people by simply looking at them. Coincidentally, Olive passes by and looks at Kirsche, answering his unspoken question by saying he should talk to Candy himself.
Cabernet Cheaptrick shows up and Kirsche accuses him of being Candy's crush, though he is quickly let off the hook. Kirsche begins to panic, believing he will not be able to focus at camp if all he can think about is Candy's crush. Suddenly, Candy and Pêche Farmer come to visit the boys. Candy asks if Kirsche is in charge of lighting the campfire at Valencia Beach, as she is excited to see his fire magic in action. Kirsche nervously accepts her compliment, though Sesame believes he had the perfect chance to ask about her crush. Suddenly, Kirsche wonders if Candy is actually in love with him, causing him to erupt with excitement as he proclaims his enthusiasm for the camping trip.

Madeleine: All right, everyone, don't be late tomorrow. That's all for today.
Kirsche: Oh yeah! Tomorrow's the long-awaited Seaside School!
Sesame: You sure are in high spirits, Big Bro Kirsche.
Kirsche: This Seaside School's gonna make me a man, Sesame!!
Sesame: Does this mean you'll finally confess to Arancia!?
SFX: [BONK]
Kirsche: Arancia who!? She was just a childhood friend!
Arancia: What was that about me?
Kirsche: Woah, Arancia!!
Arancia: I'm preparing for tomorrow, Kiiirsche, so you should come shopping with me today!
Kirsche: What, so you can have me haul around your bags again!?
Kirsche: Forget it! Leave that stuff to Pistachio!!
Arancia: You're the worst!
Pistachio: I'm insulted!
Lemon: Fervent as ever, you two.
Kirsche: Lemon and Blueberry!
Lemon: You gotta be nicer, Kirsche. Otherwise, your future wife's gonna ditch you.
Kirsche: Shut up! I don't need to be told that by someone who hits on other girls 'cause she can't get with a guy!
SFX: [Bzzt...]
Blueberry: You're the worst!!
SFX: [Zap zap zap]
SFX: [BLAM...]
Lemon: Let's leave this moron and go shopping, Blueberry.
Kirsche: Owie...
Sesame: You okay, Big Bro!?
Kirsche: That cat girl-! Our teacher told us not to use magic against people!!
Cidre: Dear, dear. You need to treat girls with kindness, Kirsche.
Cassis: Huh? You got electrocuted by Lemon, Kirsche?
Kirsche: Here come those sleazeballs again...
Cidre: They say the kinder you treat a girl, the prettier she becomes!
Kirsche: Sheesh, how about you be kind to them, then?
Cassis: Are you saying Arancia's free right now?
Cassis: Better ask her out before Kirsche changes his mind!
Cidre: Hey, no fair! I get first dibs, Cassis!
Kirsche: ....
Sesame: You okay with that, Big Bro?
Kirsche: I'm just glad those nuisances are finally gone!
Kirsche: Now I'm able to confess to Candy without worry!
Sesame: Eh? You have your eyes set on Candy, Big Bro?
Sesame: But rumor has it that Candy already fancies another guy...
Kirsche: WHAAAT!?
Kirsche: That wouldn't happen to be you, would it, Sesame...
Sesame: There's no way it'd be me...
Kirsche: The guy Candy fancies... Who on earth could it be...
Kirsche: Café au Lait the scrap robot, or Chocolat who's made of mud... Not a chance it's either of those two...
Sesame: Maybe we could ask Olive?
Kirsche: Hmm? Olive?
Sesame: They say she can read peoples' hearts.
Kirsche: For real!? Could we get Olive to read Candy's heart!?
Olive: Kirsche, Sesame, be sure not to oversleep tomorrow.
Sesame: Ah, Olive.
Kirsche: Wait a sec, Olive. I got a favor to ask.
Olive: Mm?
Kirsche: .......
Olive: .......
Olive: You're better off asking those kinds of things to a person face-to-face. Well, see you tomorrow.
Kirsche: Crap, she read my heart before I could even get her to read my heart!
Sesame: Uncool, Big Bro!
Kirsche: Dammit! At this rate, we're gonna round up every single guy to see if it's one of them!!!
Cabernet: Kirsche, Sesame, what are you up to? Heading home soon-nu?
Sesame: Ah, Cabernet.
Kirsche: Could it be YOU, Cabernet!?
SFX: [Grab!]
Cabernet: What are you doing this out of nowhere for-nu!?
Kirsche: Nah, hold on. There's no way Candy would fancy someone like a puppet with a frog on his head.
Cabernet: What are you yapping on about-nu!?
Kirsche: You're good to go home, Cabernet.
Cabernet: I was gonna go home whether you told me to or not-nu! Such an impolite guy-nu!!
Kirsche: Dammit!! Who the heck is the guy Candy fancies!? I can't go to the Seaside School feeling like this!!
Candy: You haven't gone home yet, Kirsche and Sesame?
Kirsche: Huh?
Kirsche: C-Candy! Pêche!
Pêche: That's me!
Candy: I'm looking forward to the Seaside School tomorrow! Are you in charge of lighting the campfire, Kirsche?
Kirsche: Uhh-
Candy: It's been a while since I've seen your fire magic, Kirsche. I can't wait!
Kirsche: O-oh... Is that so?
Sesame: Big Bro! This is your chance to ask her face-to-face!
Candy: All right, then. Be sure not to oversleep tomorrow.
Pêche: You too, Sesame!
Sesame: Big Bro! Now!
Kirsche: Uh-huh.
Sesame: Aaand they're gone. You had the perfect chance to ask her.
Kirsche: What if... I'M the guy Candy fancies...
Kirsche: Ooooh yeah!! Now I'm starting to get psyched for camp!!!
Sesame: B-Big Bro! Your magic's leaking out!!
- However, at the time, Kirsche could never have imagined that at the Seaside School, where fun was to be had, he would get caught up in a major incident...
- To be continued in Magical Vacation...
