History
The Abyssal Realm was born from the concept of death, serving as the plane which governed the universe's laws of death and reincarnation. Whenever living things died, their souls would transmigrate to the Abyssal Realm, pass through the Abyssal Corridor, and undergo reincarnation in Drazzig Grotto's Hall of Rebirth.[1] Conversely, dying in the Abyssal Realm meant complete annihilation of the physical and spirit bodies. If one fully embraced death, they could escape erasure and be reborn in another world as an entirely new being, losing all semblance of their past self. Some understood the Abyssal Realm to be the universe's only "real" plane, while all the other planes lied in the illusion of concepts from which they were produced.[2]
Trivia
- Near the end of the game, Ganache orders the party to deal the final blow to Kerendu, since not even enigmas can reincarnate if they die in this realm.[3] magicalpatcher's English patch mistranslated this line to Ganache wishing for the Abyssal Realm's death, because it allows the enigmas to revive, and that it also controls them.[4]
